  1. Roam… I can’t watch the Sabres anymore they are pitiful! I’m switching over to a Montreal Canadians like you are a true fan of as well. Me and you are very similar in that sense really die hard Montreal fans. I’ll be back when they get there stuff together… From your good friend A.S.

  2. They're just so bad at home.. I don't think this year is going to be one this team takes a step forward unfortunately.

Last year was already more exciting, because at least they were scoring. Now, if the opponent scores first, I'm ready to tune out 😢

  3. Its only a matter of time b4 tage Thompson realizes how much cash he left on the table and he'll stop potting as many goals. He is under payed and he knows it. He could've signed for more here or somewhere else. He knows that to. Signing star players to friendly contracts is all good until they start playing down to their contract..U all really thought u were going to get a 40 goal scorer for the next 7 yrs for what he's paid? The boy aint dumb. Its only a matter of time..

  4. Enough of that honeymoon with Mr. nice guy Donnie G – those boys need tougher coach! Too many times they come playing unprepared and sloppy. Again and again and again they are getting scored on early and many times late in the period too. They are overcomplicating things by trying for the perfect play, instead of just delivering the puck to the net. That's why they make guys like Allen look like Hasek in his prime – wich is so frustrating to watch. Fact is that they are digging a hole so deep that it can really destroy this season before novemeber. I still have hope but it's really starting to fade away.

  5. 72-73 3rd year expansion team went undefeated at home till January.
Our Sabres today do not fight for 2 points at home, that is unacceptable.

  6. Positives: Tage is getting 15 shots at the net per game, his goals will come. Dahlin and Cozens both have 5 game point streaks. Skinner is scoring. Cozens 53% faceoffs. Team plays tougher than last year. Power is a plus player despite playing very poor in O zone. Peterka has 2 goals while sitting on the bench for most of the games.

Negatives: greenway is getting 16 minutes of icetime 1 goal, Fats 1 goal 16 minutes, Ollie zero goals, Power looks bad trying to shoot a puck for 8.35 million, Levi playing like a rookie, but the biggest issue with the team is Alex Tuch, he has zero goals -4, leads team in penalties, he was a driver of the team last year, we need to get him going. Okposo and Girgensons are useless, do nothing, team needs to move on from them.

What I would do as GM, I would tell the coach to play his Son less minutes because the guy can’t score at any level of hockey, I would trade or release Ollofsson and call up Kulich or Rousek, make a bold trade for a top 4 D man, keep my eyes open for a veteran winger who is high end skill available as free agent or trade. I would probably sign Pat Kane so the fans sell building out for at least half a season, give them something to be excited for since this team sucks.

  7. Too many passes ( a lot of them off target , in skates) , too many shots from the perimeter and NOT ENOUGH NET TRAFFIC! Forwards are TOO SOFT! Nobody wants to screen the goalie or crash the net looking for a rebound. The WORST thing Adams did this summer was let Michael Peca go to the Rags( NYR) as he knows how to crash the net and he knows what it takes to win .The ONLY forwards interested in playing physical are Greenway and Krebs!
Listen to Granato after the game its almost the same interview he did after the Calgary game..No net conviction, no net traffic!

  8. Sad to say but they regressed, tired of talking about the same issues every year, change the team name to the cellar dweĺlers, cause thats all they are

  9. Maybe add a player to the forward group in the off-season, and not an 18 year old from the WHL?

  10. They played a good game. The problem was that Allen was dialed in, and guys are just not finishing chances.

Completely agree with the Isles win. It felt like a great, dominant performance but we only came away with a 3-1 win. I don't understand how an entire team can be snake bitten at the same time for 6 straight games to start a season.

  11. A sea of red sweaters during a home game makes me worried about how long the franchise can survive. Average ticket price is what? $150? $160? Who wants to take out a second mortgage to take the fam to a game where the team plays like this?!? It's embarrassing being heckled by groups of hab fans at a home game. It'd be fun to rib them back if the team on the ice played with a little bit of urgency, but instead I'm forced to agree with most of the criticisms leveled at the goathead team. It makes me sad.

  12. outcoached. all these simple playing teams, know they can just show up, protect the middle of the slot and run down the clock. im still watching this team, and seeing a lack of ability to dictate games. i think they lack some presence in their top 6.

  13. Relax Buffalo fans……your team will score a shit load of goals this season! The tide is turning in their division with both of these teams pushing for a playoff spot!

  14. So many mental mistakes in this one it was hard to watch. How long until people start saying Granato needs to be replaced? Not that replacing the coach has ever done much for Buffalo but I won't complain when it happens. This problem with Buffalo goes deeper than just coaching though. I just don't know. All I know is that it sucks. Oh well.

  15. Honestly as a Sens fan, we got played similarly by Detroit. Dominated the game but they executed and we didn't. I am still confident that Detroit is running hot and will collapse not long from now, but Ottawa and Buffalo are still the most competent of the 3

  16. The Sabres are working on becoming a more defensively responsible team. Shooting pucks mostly on the outside (especially without much traffic) is not putting a lot of pressure on the opposing goalie. The Sabres have to go to the net much more than they have been this season. There might be a few more games like this early this season before it all starts to click for them.

  17. I've observed some repeat patterns with the Sabres that I think might be overlooked by many fans.
    1) An unwillingness to attack the net or up the middle in the O zone. All 3 goals scored against the Islanders were a willingness to finally break through and attack the middle. For as skilled as we are, we are actually really easy to defend against when we play like this against Montreal. All Montreal had to do was position themselves and defend in the middle and most of our shots were wrist shots that came from the perimeter. It was easy for Jake Allen to see all the shots coming. Compare this to how teams will send 2-3 players to the front of our net and get easy bounces or chances.

    2) An unwillingness to cover the front of our net in the D zone. If you watch all the goals scored against us so far this year, most of the time they are right in front of the net or in the slot. During the Islanders game we had like 2-3 players defend in front of the net in the D zone and it worked. This keeps shots on the outside and prevents the goalies from facing really difficult shots or from the other teams getting easy bounces in front. So many teams have done this to us. We can dominate a game in the O zone but then a team will come down the ice and exploit big cracks in our defense. It was as if Montreal said "we will show you exactly what you're not doing!" Comrie also has a really bad problem with not diving on pucks or covering them up quickly. This is a repeat problem with him.

It absolutely kills me that even a team like Montreal understands this. Even though we are starting to hit more we are still playing an incredibly soft game. An unwillingness to attack the other team's net and get a deflection or dirty goal is a team that is playing soft and scared. And it's such a shame because we outsize Montreal by a lot of with multiple big players on our team. They want every goal to be a pretty goal instead of getting dirty and paying a price. Rob Ray pointed this out even when we pulled the goalie. NO ONE went and stood in the crease. Our offense is like the Bills: Predictable. Teams have scouted our usual tactics. They need to be coached to fix this this year, not next year.

Edit: Granato talked in the postgame about the lack of conviction to attack the net. So we can't really blame him for this one unless he took too long to communicate it.

  18. Man i totally disagree with most of you in the comments. Even you for once Wayne…. The Sabres dominated every aspect of this game, and Allen Bailed the Habs out time and time again… I think many of you are just projecting your frustrations from the start of the season.. Tonight I thought the effort was really good, and they ran into a hot goalie.. Power Play is a little concerning, but otherwise the Sabres should have won that game.

  19. STAND PUT GENTS. We will be fine. We started very slowly last season as well. When we find our groove we will be dominant.

  20. Everyone take a deep breath. It's hockey and players slump or get cold streaks. It's just coincidental that our big guns (except Skinner) are cold. They will wake up!

  21. I’m not so concerned, although a few players have fallen apart at critical times. A lot of the bad habits from last season I’ve noticed a 180 on, and Dahlin although not scoring a ton, is WAY more influential on the ice than some are giving him credit for. He takes that extra second to make a play, he can skate and swivel to through an aggressive forechecker and open up the ice, he is laying some massive hits, I think he’s an outstanding defensemen. Tuch is who I have my eye on now, as his turnover and late penalty resulted in 2 Mtl goals last night, not to mention 0 points in 6 games. Okposo is too slow for the NHL. Ollie needs new air on another team. We will turn this around, but we need to be careful about directing bad, hopeless energy towards a team that had a lot of expectations put on it over the off season. Let them sort it out, I’ve seen a lot of good through the bad.
