I love your player selection. He’s big, skilled and can score. I think we would have to sweeten the deal. Prospect rights and a 2nd is a bit thin, for a guy who is still in good shape. Let’s keep the pick and add Casey Mitts. Center for Center. They get youth and save 4 million + Dollars. Also gives Cozens a good example to follow and make the 3rd an offensive threat.
This city is ready for a good sabres team I was just at the bills practice at the stadium anf the place was almost packed. I can't wait till the sabres have that same energy.

I think Winnipeg will request a roster piece in a deal for Scheifele. They do not believe they are in a rebuild. Either Casey or Victor would probably be the player going to Winnipeg along with a prospect. Honestly, I am a bit Meh with acquiring Scheifele, it might make us a little better but does not make us a playoff certainty.
7th or 8th seed this year. Most likely 9-11… in my opinion. But I think 2024 helps us for so many reasons. At that point not just 2024 and 2025, all our 1st round picks will be on the ice, and as long as half of them are decent we will be a contender. Not only because our young players will be better, but teams like Boston, Tampa, Washington, Pitt will all be getting older. We are nearing the area of when Buffalo, NYR, Car, NJD, DET, OTT will have 4 or 5 of the 6 start becoming playoff teams. I think this year we have a general idea how our prospects are doing, and if we like it, we resign our players and lock em up for 2-4 years, and maybe get a decent FA. Goalie is still most important, even though I think there are 90% of teams that have a 90% save percentage.
I would do this trade, even if it cost us our 1st round in 2023. Because if we assume we are making the playoffs with him, I think they deserve a 1st round pick. 1st round picks are the main luxury in the draft, and I can't see them giving away tthis player UNLESS both those 2 "Right players" promise to sign with them. Because they could easily have what happened to us a few year ago… With that semi bum player from NYR… I can't even remember his name… And that's not even shade… he just didn't play well enough for me to remember his name.
I absolutely agree we r one goal scorer away from playoffs if goaltending is good ( I like Comrie and still think upl can get it together) …. I don’t think that’s enough for scefile cuz I’d don’t think either would sign in Winnipeg, …. I’d trade Philly 2nd mitts and another piece …. If they’d sign there they’d do it but I don’t think they would

Don granato deserves credit not just the players! It's beyond me how he has the ability to dig them guys out of a total negative/ dysfunctional organization & it into a competent club within 1 year…that should've been coach of the year worthy, through all the Jack eichel drama, the Kruger losing streak & embarrassments, constant coach/, GM firings & somehow he turned all that into a positive energized season
