Speaking as a Rangers fan who was humbled by NJ last year. I’m not trying to talk shit or anything but damn for a contender like NJ with such a potent, high powered offense, they need to figure out their defense and goalie situation.
They’ve now scored 3 or more goals in every game so far and 4, 4 or more goal games 2 of which being 5 goal games, yet they’ve also conceded the first goal in every game so far and have allowed 4 or more goals in 4/6 games.
Jack Hughes is playing absolutely out of his mind and Toffoli is feeding off that well but you can’t bank of that being enough. 3A for Hughes and 2 goals for Toffoli, still didn’t make up for the lack of defense. Bahl did a great job shutting down Ovi, but other then that the devils seem VERY offensively lopsided this year.
They’ll more than likely figure it out though. Reminding me of last year for the rangers. Coming off an amazing season after missing the playoffs for a while and really excited to get back the following year just to hit some growing pains right off the bat.
The Devils need to figure this out and fast, they have WAY too much offensive firepower to not be scoring. Yesterday was the Devils playing 10 minutes of a 60 minute game. Just unacceptable

Excellent start for the Caps in the 1st. I'll quickly move past the collapse in the 2nd — lol — to say they showed a lot of grit bouncing back in the 3rd the way they did. Great to see. Go Caps!!

Can’t spot any team three goals and only put in a 20 minute effort to win games. I would write it off as a back-to-back loss, but as Lindy put it the Devils appeared soft. Can’t argue with that.
Devils were supposed to be a deep team with some questions in goal. Instead, so far, they're a one line team where basically all O is going through Jack Hughes, the D is breaking down all over the place, and their average goalies can't keep up even on some of the low danger chances. Where is the depth? It's the Jack Hughes show so far.
Devils is not on fire. Or maybe. But they are not safe to be good yet.

I wonder if there's a stat for most goals in a game where all the goals were scored at one end of the ice. Can't be much more than 10, right?

This was a must win for the caps. Even when behind 4-3. With that start and the third period to go. The caps had to show some serious will and power or things could be looking really grim after 20. They got the win and ovie got a well deserved empty netter. I think caps win the next game and go .500 which is fine so early in the season.
If we start actually playing defense teams are screwed. We can score in bunches quick, gonna be scary when we're actually awake to start the game. Legit slept the whole 1st period, tie game in a matter of minutes at 3-3. Ugly showing but major potential to be an insane powerhouse

Sloppy. Very f***in sloppy game. Ik it's 6 games in, but if you can't defend or have your goalie make a extra save or 2, you're not gotta win. They got what they deserved. Totally unacceptable
