41 SOG and 2 goals jfc. Honestly I’m just adjusting my expectations with this team. If they do well, cool – if they continue sucking, well it certainly won’t be shocking. If they REALLY keep sucking, well at least that 1st round pick from the Karlsson trade is top 10 protected. Without a serious shakeup idk how this team succeeds.

At least I feel safe with the Penguins, because they can’t beat anyone FeelsGoodMan

Definition if insanity is seeing this team lose in the same exact way and still running sully out there expecting something to change

  4. ZombiePancake45

Something has to change, and it should be Sully and friends. Instead it will be subbing out Shea with some old guy from WBS

  5. robertobondar

The over-passing in the first period was really incredible. Such a disappointment after the simplicity of the colorado game.

  6. Steaknkidney45

Just when there might have been a glimmer of hope two nights ago. Are we getting a glimpse of the post-87 Pens? Not an encouraging start, though we’re still in October.

  7. mclardass

The only upside I’m seeing to this season is that I’m not ass-clinching throughout the 3rd period

  8. maddscientist

Thank fuck Kyle Dubas has no emotional attachment to the coaching staff, it’ll make it a lot easier to fire them

  9. user832906

« Phew! We have it figured out boys! 4-0 against an undefeated team! »……. Then: Hindenburg

  10. Big_chungus44

They came to play the first 20 minutes. Forget the other 40. 😂

  11. Mahler911

I don’t blame Sullivan for the goaltending mess or the complete lack of talent in the bottom six forwards, but to have such inept special teams and being consistently unprepared to play bad teams is at least partially on the coaching staff. It’s been years of this and it’s time to change while the season can maybe be salvaged.

  12. Remarkable-Sun-4286

Everyone early on is quick to blame Jarry but now realizes it’s the whole damn team.

It was a rough one especially since Thursday was such a great game. Really hope we find our fire on a **consistent** basis.

Can’t wait for the same old crap Sullivan will spew after this.

  15. Electrical-Program86

Can’t wait to hear Sullivan talk about expected goals post game.

  16. cheeba2992

How do you follow Thursday’s performance with this garbage?

  17. JimmyPineapple_

Steelers going for the Pittsburgh weekend trifecta tomorrow.

  18. QuasarMania

At least Jake tallied a goal. Half off milkshakes tomorrow. So there’s a plus.

    As always, and forever, LGP

  19. Kalaaver

Sully when he speaks to the press “I think we got a lot of great chances and it just didn’t go our way.”

“We just got to play a more consistent game and play harder”

  20. BobZajac

Swagger swagger and things of that nature……. 🙄

  21. Euphoric__Dot

Last place in the east, at least we have a first round pick this year…

Oh wait we traded it for a 33 year old defencemen who make’s ten million a year

  22. tsmittycent

I don’t even know what to say. a lot of issues. They changed a lot of personel but kept the entire coaching staff that missed the playoffs. Not hard to see what the problem is. They are wildly inconsistent but if you look at the last 20-25games pens are one of the shittier teams in the NHL in that span

  23. frosty_phoenix92

Id start with Todd. You HAVE A TO SCORE A FUCKING PP. that is a massive momentum shift. Sully is on the chopping block but I’d give him a few more games. Todd has been shit for years. He has to go.

  24. autumndwellingdream

My frustration lies in the fact that the team was down 3-0, then 3-1, and aside from pulling Jarry, no other in-game adjustments were made. Zero. Went through the motions throwing out the same four lines shift after shift.

    – Carter has to come out of the lineup. White, Hinostroza, anyone can slot in on that fourth line. That whole fourth line has been so bland.

    – The Graves and Letang pairing isn’t working right now. Move Pettersson to pair with Letang and Graves with Karlsson. Or, drop Graves to play with Ruhwedel and give POJ a chance to play with his buddy. Anything.

    – Rakell has to get it going. You don’t want to necessarily break up the juice flowing from Sid’s line, but does Zohorna or DOC slot up to play with
Malkin? Maybe try it. Or at least, in a 3-1 game, swap Rust/Rakell and see if anything happens. Sucks about being too close to the cap that Puustinen can’t come up.

    – Good to see some change to the PP with Rust moving in there instead of Rakell, but he is all over the place out there. No poise or patience. Reilly Smith might slot in better on PP1.

  25. wizardofcheeze

That wasn’t the Penguins from the Avs game. That looked more like a men’s beginner beer league Penguins team. Why the hell can’t they build off of a win with the same effort?

  26. believeuhavemystaplr

Seems a stretch to call it a Sully win for the challenges…it’s the video guys that deserve the credit

  27. believeuhavemystaplr

    Sully BS meter

    Swagger – check
    Opportunistic- check
Make it hard at net front – check
    Stay with it – check

  28. LetTheKnightfall

Idk about you guys but I can’t wait to revisit threads like this in June when the Penguins and their fearless head coach Bruce Boudreau are scratching their names into Lord Stanley’s fabled Cup

  29. Imposhibibble

I am going to gain 150lbs comfort eating my way through this season 😕

  30. shrapneldub

This team just insists on being bipolar when it comes to winning

  31. Averyboredpenguin

Imagine if this team of stars played like stars

  32. retired_fool

I enjoyh all the clowns who called the last game a ‘statement game’ when the past 5 years for sullivan the statement was « i dont know what i’m doing » and that was ignored in lieu of one game.

  33. lolvalue

This team really knows how to make goalies look like superstars my god.

  34. New_Kaleidoscope_539

Why can’t we get over the hump of playing consistent hockey? Why do we always play contending teams like it’s the playoffs and win, and then lose to teams we should beat by showing up. And why is our PP still absolute garbage?

  35. KaiTak98

Finally watched game. What a trash effort.

  36. ConallDubhghall

Yeah, this might not be fun, thrilling ride of a season I expected/hoped for when it started. Top guys are (mostly) playing well but finds way to lose. Tough.

  37. ObjectiveImmediate44

    We are last.
10 % of season is played and we are in the bottom together with Chicago, San Jose and Buffalo. So sad. What’s next?

  38. I turned it off at 3-0 and had a much better night afterward. I don’t mind watching my team loose a good game, but they’re losing games and looking ugly while they do it.

  39. SpartanDragon

The Penguins had a great game against the Avalanche between crap shows against the Stars and Senators. If there are lessons to be learned, the Penguins playing with simplicity and the right plays against the Avalanche should be played every game.

Scoring speaks for itself. The Penguins are not enough scoring. Outshooting the opponent is fine and dandy. Shots for have to produce goals scored.

Power play, the league’s third worst presently at 10.0%, has not been fixed. It is sad to say « The Penguins wasted another power play. » when it happens constantly.

Jarry is not playing up to his contract. He can provide reasons why the Penguins should have upgraded goaltending through other goaltenders.

Hellberg, despite two goals allowed in the third period, played well. If he plays well, Jarry can be on notice.

Sullivan and Reirden have passed their expiration dates. Change approaches to win, or find other coaches who can win.
