They try to pass the puck into the net. It's got to change. Looking for the pretty goal. The couch need to change things up. Look like last year with the PP. No screens the opposing goalie sees the puck coming.
I was a Jarry defender until recently. He looks worse and worse. This is feeling like a devastating season.

Jarry is definitely an issue. However, when you keep piling up shot after shot and chance after chance night after night and still can’t score many goals than you may just not be that good at finishing anymore.
I think that is an excellent point about the shots coming to the opponents net straight on. Those have to be the easiest to defend and have the least possibility of being deflected into the net..Maybe some expert can chime in. Maybe shots should come in more from that spot where Ovetchkin stands for the 2 minutes of the PP…the guy from the Rangers shoots from there too, as do others
I;m starting to think the problem w. the Pens is their team speed + goalie. They are easier to defend now. It doesnt take much of a drop off to have this sort of effect..just a fraction difference can be enough in a sport like hockey. People complain about how slow Carter is…well he seems as fast as the others now…
I can’t look at last night’s game and say they went to the net or spent a lot of time in the blue paint. Not sure what game DK was watching. Seemed like when they did have guys in front, they moved out of the way so the goalie could see the shot. When they came into the o zone they immediately went to the corners. It reminded me of the Boston series where they scored two goals in four games. Perimeter shots, no one in front, scared to play in the middle of the ice. We have too many guys who want to be cute and have had too much success with that in the past.
The last PP was disturbing to watch. Do these guys not watch game tape? Nobody moved for 2:00 just a lot of passing then a shot at the goalies chest with no traffic. As soon as i saw that puck leaving the zone and saw the first penalty expired i knew it was over. Tough to even want to watch another game.
I hated the Jarry contract when it was announced and I hate it even more now. He is not even an average goalie.

Absolutely pathetic game.. The refs were all but giving us the game. Our pass-happy power play can't do anything because they all want everyone else to score. Shoot the ——- puck!! When Karlsson actually shoots it, scores. Malkin actually shoots it, scores. Jarry is the same shit goaltender he's been for 3 years. Old bad thing Dubas did was resign that idiot to 5 years.
I think the Pens played well last year; Jarry was the weakness. Same this year.
The Pens should trade Jake for a power forward.
I think the Pens are too reliant on advanced analytics. It reminds me of schools teaching to standardized tests. Sure, you are generating shots and chances from "high danger" areas but you're not finishing. There is no stat for shooting into the goalie's chest after that chance. Also, there is no element of surprise with the Pens shots so a goalie and track a pass in front and know the deflection is more than likely going to hit him in the pads. Instead, why not receive the pass and go back against the grain (where the goalie came from). It would put him way out of position. They have to also lead the league in passes that are deflected by the opponent's stick or skates.
Hate to say this bc I like what Sully says, but after the answer he gave MM about anything tangible that needs to be changed and he basically said "I don't know," we may need a change.
This team is definitely snakebitten 🐍 there’s no doubt about it. The one save Gibson made me sad lol. But you are right DK about the fact nobody drives the net. This team honestly hasn’t ever quite been the same since HORNVQUIST left!!! At some point they have to be more willing to get dirty to score goals despite how many shots they put on net. The only guy on this team who actually does it is rust tbh.
