STOP sugarcoating things. The game was lost due to Reaves. The guy had again an atrocious plus/minus….The worst thing is that he CANT DEFEND any NBA guard. He is toooooo slow. He has ZERO lateral quickness, his first step is toooooo slow, he can't jump. Reaves was the reason USA team got obliterated by Germany (having Schroeder cooking Reaves, left and right) and Canada (SJA was having a party with Reaves defending him, he constantly wanted a switch to have Reaves "defend" him). Reaves is a joke on defence and he is also a joke on offence. The story of a "scrawny, unathletic kid defying all odds and playing for the Lakers" was a good one, but STOP IT. Reaves is an EYESORE on a basketball court.
As soon as Vando returns, our starting 5 MUST, i repeat, MUST, i repeat again, MUST be…. Lebron, AD, Wood, Vando and DLo. That joke of a player, Reaves, should either be traded or come from the bench to play AT MOST 5 minutes per game.
Period. End of discussion.

Surprising how we keep mentioning Lakers couldn't get stops, but Lebron is olaying fefense 10% of the time. He's saving his energy, of course. But sluffing off at the post, leaving his guy wide open, begging for the ball. Wide open 3's with a team like Sac is not a winning formula. That was Bron's man with that wide open missed 3 at the end of regulation. We were lucky.

The ugly truth is you can’t have three starters not be at minimum competent on defense. Bron is preserving himself, Austin and DLo both are turnstiles escorting their men to the hoop all and every game. One of them has to hit the bench. Just sit Austin and when December comes trade DLo and put Austin back in, or trade both and get a guy like Caruso or DeRozan.
Reaves played a stinker and a half but we blame ham???? That contract gone to reaves head?

Stay away from Hardin! Depth and flexibility is way more effective than Hardin. How many teams will we watch Hardin ruin before we stay away?? If Hardin is the answer, we need a new question.

If Phoenix has one of their 40M guys it would really be 0-3 now. We are lucky to be 1-2, really lucky. And nice to see that Wood and AD works. I guess we can now trade Wood away and never play them together again. Because that's just what we do in LA. We don't try what works and when we accidentally do and it does work as one would expect, they stop doing it. So I expect Wood permabenched for the next 3-4 games. We are inching closer to the Gabe / D'Lo / Reaves / Lebron / AD 40 minutes per game lineup.
And of course the defense isn't there. That's because we let all the wings pass us by, used the bag to sign Gabe Vincent, talked up Vando and Rui acting like those are wings and then put it on Cam Reddish and Max Christie to contest the top shooting guards in the NBA. D'Lo and Reaves have always had defensive issues and are both not elite 2-way guards. And apparently neither is Gabe. This was sold as the deepest roster in then NBA. It is not. It never was.
We won with top 10 2-way players in KCP and DG backed up by top 3 defender Caruso. Going small made sense then. And we still only did it behind McGee and Howard, that got the rebounds and easy points every night letting AD be a PF. Now we have a top 35 defender, who has pretty good offense and a top 200 defender, who is a great shooter and good.
So we did not get an OGA / GTJ trade done. We did not get any wing besides Taurean Prince and now it's like why is only Taurean Prince working out for us? Man we got lucky we have Wood and as long as Vando is around there is hope, even if he isn't a good shooter. We have one course of action with Wood and AD together. If that means we need Gabe starting, then so be it.
We can still re-tool this roster to work though.
Gabe / Prince / LBJ / AD / Wood
D'Lo / Reaves / Cam / Vando / Hayes
That will never be as good as something like this would have been:
GTJ / OGA / LBJ (point forward) / AD / Wood
Delon Wright / Reaves / Rui / Vando / Hayes (or in my opinion better Thomas Bryant, but I guess we can't anyway cause rules)
But that ship sailed, because we needed to go get Jalen Hood-Schifino, Maxwell Lewis Pepperdine, keep future 2nds and figured Gabe Vincent would be better than Schroeder and Taurean Prince could be just as good as OGA or I don't know what we thought. Thank god Taurean Prince works quite well and looks like a 10M/y guy or else we would have the exact same team as in 2023 right now and probably the same 2-10 start. Now it looks like 3-7, but with a little bit of luck, we might be .500 by game 16 rather than late in the season. It all depends on whether or not AD and Wood becomes a thing. If it does I think we get to .500 and then it depends how Vando looks, when he gets back. If he shoots 35%+ from the corner and he doesn't shoot many other shots, we will be better than .600, maybe by quite a bit, even if nothing else changes much. If he shoots 30% again, then we will end up 7th or 8th I reckon. I would have said in the play-ins last week, but I never saw any minutes with AD and Wood together coming and I think that it actually works having those 2 together. It sure beats AD as the lone big with no spacing and trying to match up 1v1 against better PGs, SGs and SFs. It's 3 mismatches to 2 most nights and without Lebron mostly 4 to 1. Depth won't make up for that, especially not if the depth consists of wildly shuffled together ever changing groups.
this was all Darvin. How can he let AR go 1-11 before benching him? and how do you feel if you re Wood and Rui? You are playing very well and your prize is sitting out… Horrible,just horrible..
don't understand the extreme hype around max christie.. and to trade him… for what? a 2nd round pick?
Always been an supporter of AR, his play plus the missing of early free throws cost us the game ..
