Thats insane. Considering players get fined a max of $5000 (I think) on dirty plays that result in months long injuries to opponents.

I feel like there’s a lot we don’t know about the situation. Something is missing. So obviously he said something that warranted a penalty. My guess is it was something along the lines of the “homophobic slur” that Getzlaf used, where if you dissect the phrase, it technically is, but he wasn’t using it in that manner. Anyways.
But then it’s interesting because he wasn’t actually tossed until after Pittsburgh scored, 90 game seconds later. So what was said then? Something is missing.
It’s a stiff fine, but it’s hard to judge considering we’re clearly missing context.

Best spent $25,000 ever. I’d pay it in pennies then say the same exact thing to the same ref next game and have MacT score another game winner in front of him
Players, management, and ownership will cover the expenses. 25k to a hockey player or coach is chump change.
