Seravalli was on the same wavelength as me. I always looked back at the teams that had no talent but deployed a defensive system like the one we're running now, it's the only way they could survive. But if you had supremely talented players and you can get them to play like a 25 yo Tocchet with the same heart and grit. And if you can instill that work ethic to your very talented core what do you have? You have a Stanley Cup contender. Mind you they have to continue doing the things that Tocchet is preaching for this to become a reality. But if they buy in then we're in for something truely special.

What the league office is doing to the Sens is pretty awful. Its a VERY harsh penalty and I think losing a 1st rounder needs to be reserved for the word crimes. PS if this was Chicago, Philadelphia, NY or Boston would they have lost a 1st rounder ??

Ian Cole might just be the most under rated defensemen of this era. The 4 or so d men with better plus minus for their careers have been paid far more. All over the league Cole's former partners have prospered. Justin Schultz, Ryan Graves, Zadorov, Carson Soucy have all seen thier stock go up after partnering with Cole. Even while with Columbus for a 20 game run he helped them get into the playoffs. Columbus for god's sake. Enjoy the year with him.
