Personally, I think this is the move. Merelä has played well, but ABB has played better. There’s no reason to keep him with the team if he’s not going to be playing games, Watson is a better option as a 13th forward. Let him get top minutes in Syracuse and build some offensive confidence, and I’m sure we’ll see him again at some point this season.
Love Merela, very impressive to make the team out of camp, he needs to be playing though and this gives him a chance to really adjust to NA ice and round out his game. He’ll be the first guy to be called up if injuries happen anyway
I think Merela proved himself as a potential NHL talent so I expect him to be back at some point. This was ABBs prove it moment and he’s doing it currently.
