honestly ya, I would say that the fans cost them that game. They lost on the pk that they wouldn't have been on had it not been for the fans. That loss is to blame on the fans and the refs for giving a penalty for something the fans did.
What's to stop opposing fans from buying hats at the stadium and throwing stuff on the ice….How do you prove someone isn't a a fan of the other team….Just kick the people out, the team didn't deserve a penalty.
Hey Cossa played good so thats all that matters to me.
Usually there's a warning by the officials first, especially if the incident occurs during a break in play, but what else is GR supposed to do given the circumstances? Fans shouldn't be throwing random things on the ice, and they know this.
Dude, it sounds like it was the fans fault though. It sounds like you are criticizing the team for blaming the fans, but the fans essentially took a penalty for the team.
friday night games are $1 or $2 beers, and i thought they did the chuck a puck for charity after the 2nd period.
The Griffins aren't blaming 'THEIR FANS'. They are blaming 9 unruly fans who thre objects onto the ice causing a penalty which cost a goal. You're videos are getting pretty bad dude. I might stop watching altogether. I used to enjoy your videos. You used to give fairly unbiased documentary and fairly sensible documentary. Now you have become making High School level videos that obviously are geared just to get clicks. Boo Hoo on you. YOU will be losing YOUR fans soon.
The biggest problem I have with it is … if it was 9 people, how do the refs know if they are fans of GR or the opposing team? They are just incentivizing opposing teams fans to throw stuff onto the ice to get their team a PP. bad decision by the refs, now in a case where 1000’s of people are doing it, I’d say give the penalty after the warning, but 9 people?
I think it's fair to say the fans cost them the game by giving a PP in OT to the other team. They did lose the momentum they had and had to feel frustrated.
bum team like the wings lol
I live in GR. This is mostly definitely the fault of a few stupid fans. Dumb people are gonna do dumb things. Ruin crap for the rest of us. Good for the Griffins for calling a spade a spade and calling these jokers out. Now follow it up with a lengthy ban.
Do not blame the paying customer. Deal with them. Call it an unfortunate incident. But never put blame on the customer. You will only end up with fewer customers.
The NHL rule was added after the 1996 season, when the Florida Panthers fans went overboard with the plastic rats after each Panthers goal. The rule states that after fans start throwing objects on to the ice, they get a warning from the PA announcer. If they persist after that, only then does the home team get a penalty. I do not know if the rule is the same for the AHL.
This rule change effectively killed the Detroit tradition of throwing octopi on the ice after every Red Wings playoff goal during home games. However, I have never seen it enforced against throwing hats after a hat-trick. Also, some Red Wings fans have started throwing one or two token octopi at the start of home playoff games, and so far the league has let that go.
I do remember one road regular season game in Anaheim, shortly after this rule change, where some Red Wings fans threw a few octopi after each Red Wings goal, and finally the announcement came that any further throwing of items on the ice would result in a penalty to the home team, even though it was obviously fans of the road team doing it. The Red Wings did score another goal after that announcement, but nothing more was thrown on the ice. Perhaps doing so in the midst of an arena crowded with mostly Anaheim fans wouldn't have been the safest thing to do, when it had a good chance of actually effecting the outcome of the game? Perhaps the current Griffins announcement is trying to create a similar disincentive for future games?
Fans are now officially entitled to say “We” when referring to their favorite team
The loss was a communal effort. Griffins were flat most of the game, lucky to get a point.
When they started waking up, drunk college kids at $2 beer night made winning that much harder.
