Well at least we did a good job at losing and got to overtime. Can’t be mad with a point in Carolina.

  2. gremm05

That was a pretty rough OT. They missed their chance to change and got burned bc of it. Ugh

  3. Simple_Jak

PP NEEDS to improve. Also, we basically have 2 functioning forward lines.

  4. suspect108

UPL needed to cover up on that play

  5. csecgrunt

Damn, that sucks. Ah well, a point now is a point we don’t need to scrounge for in our last 9 games.

I really need someone to explain to me why the hell we don’t dump and chase on the power play when trying to enter the zone. Maybe I’m clueless or not seeing something but holy hell everytime we get a poweplay it’s the same shit over and over

Skate puck up to see a wall of players just a stick length inside the blue line

We carry the puck just inside the blue line and try to puck protect in the very tight space and look to pass to a forward coming in with speed. Get the pass blocked or pushed of the puck and have puck sent back to our own end

OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER

Its driving me insane and I need a rational explanation for this. We seem to never get set up to give our playmakers a chance cause our zone entry is horrendous.

If the D isn’t moving their feet and taking away the space in the high slot and you have speed, dump the puck in and beat them to it in the corners then get it back to the point and get setup for the power play puck movement.

It can’t be that simple I have to be a clueless fan right?

Well played, if you’re gonna lose lose like that.

GAH, I wish Ukko-Pekka had covered that puck. He stole a point for us though, against a really good Carolina team, and then the guys got stuck on the ice in OT.

Our power play makes me want to eat a 9mm, though.

  9. ziggywatson

Not upset with that result at all given how I thought it’d go

  10. itsMikeShanks

Stole a point. 6k gave us a chance to win.

Mitts is still playing out of his mind. Same with Tuch.

    Could have been worse.

Great game by UPL but cover the puck next time

  12. Palmybeaches

Not bad. Ill take a competitive game and a point in Carolina at this point.

  13. whoisjavier

Powerplay could have made this a winnable game. Oh well.

  14. BARDLER

No complaints about how they played that game. Last year the Hurricanes walked all over our soft team defense and crushed us. They played them exactly how they needed to, but just didn’t get it to go there way.

Powerplay still needs to be figured out though.

Pretty good game overall. Our powerplay needs a ton of work though. That could’ve been the difference tonight.

  16. adolce95

Eh I’ll take it. Not getting the change was rough but if they’re gonna lose coin flips, do it in OT. Loser points are a big reason we missed the playoffs last year.

    inb4 the conflicting UPL opinions

  18. erHenzol16

Wtf happened to Thompson? Since the second half of last season he’s easily been one of our worst players.

I remember when he was single handedly destroying teams

  19. joeyg151785

UPL should have covered it up, then we could have changed.

  20. osamagotpwnd

Sad ending, but we got a point against a strong opponent without a bunch of key pieces. Can’t be too mad at it

  21. MidnightMass26

Feel like we stole a point tonight, but I think our roster is getting exposed a bit. Missing some key guys to injury and having 71, 21, and roster call ups on a nightly basis is not a winning formula. We need to get healthy and might need to make another move.

  22. Lugy_The_Meh

UPL should have 100% covered that puck but instead turned it over behind the net.

Good game where they can take notes on how to play as a skill team from a better skill team. Move their feet in the offensive zone, stop with a slow breakout on PP, and quick passes. Get those down and they are solid!

Overall, I’m very happy they got a point out of this game. Carolina is a tough team and they looked to be outplaying the Sabres. 6K kept them in the game, just need to get a little something going on the PP and they’ll be fine this season. On to the next one!

  24. Low-Garlic8717

Does Cozens retake PP1 back or is it Mitts to lose?? Personally I like Mitts there

  25. Musician-Quick

Sabres put up that effort every night and we are a playoff team. Plain and simple. Not perfect but if you can skate with Carolina you can skate with pretty much any team. Get Cozens, Quinn, Sammy and Benson/Savoie in the lineup and let’s get going.

  26. BronusSwagner

Honestly this is the type of game they lost in regulation last year. I’ll take a point against Carolina who always plays us tough.

A bunch of winnable games coming up. Let’s try to get back in it.

  27. Kinger86

Before anyone panics the 2010-11 (last playoffs) Sabres were 3-8-2 13 games into the season.

  28. ZabaDoobiez

It wasn’t a bad game overall but eventually Buffalo is going to have to do better than win one, lose one. .500 doesn’t cut it.
