  1. He needs to find his spot, I find he’s always tied along the boards or skating his back to the puck. Look at Caufield, always parked in the same spot, Suzuki too.

He was using his size and creating some havoc last night, but he still seems a bit lost in the defensive zone.

I don’t think he tries that curl pass last night if he wasn’t feeling it.

Just a quick reminder that he’s 19yo almost a full 2 years younger than all other players.

Since a few games i’m seeing some incredibly quick passes and puck recovery along the boards from him.

One day he’ll be a beast.

One thing he needs to improve is his positioning after getting rid of the puck, since his passes are usually short, he drives to the net immediately but he’s usually skating way too close to the puck carrier and that negates any scoring play. That being said, I think his breakouts are quite good and he doesn’t bobble the puck and has good hands in tight, which is why he can make such strong quick plays. I do think it’s just a matter of time until he starts putting pts on the board, the team is doing well enough and he’s getting decent ice-time. Needs to stay at 14-15 min a game. I’m happy that MSL is high on his development that means he sees something we don’t necessarily see, the small details that make a player effective. I’m sure by next year, Juraj wil be playing more key situations (OT, late game, moonlight on PP1).

  7. >the production is just going to be a side-effect of what he’s doing on the ice.

well hopefully we starting seeing it very soon

St-Louis and Kent will die on that “he’s better off in the nhl” hill. Let’s see in 2-3 years.

Maybe get him the fuck away from Christian Dvorak

  10. I would really like to see Caufield – Monahan – Slafkovsky. I keep hearing about how we can’t break up the Pearson – Monahan – Gallagher line, but why would we ever prioritize those veterans over our 1st overall pick?

  11. He seemed lost for half a dozen games after Dach got injured, but I think he’s been solid since being paired with Caufield.

I get that St. Louis has to keep Slaf’s confidence up, but I’m still not sold on him being in the NHL right now. Slaf looks like he’s barely keeping his head above water most nights, which isn’t what you want when trying to develop a prospect. I don’t get why we seem so opposed to the idea of using our AHL team. It’s not like sending him down would hurt the Habs since he isn’t producing anyways.

And yes, he’s 19, but just look at Bedard, Carlsson and Fantilli. They are younger but all playing important roles on their team and producing. If a young player is ready, they’ll produce. There’s no shame in acknowledging that Slaf needs a bit more development time before being ready to contribute at the NHL level.

I watched Slaf closely all game, he played well, made a couple of giveaways, but also recovered a couple, generally played well, threw a couple of hits, used his size well.

    He’s gonna be fine.

A bigger thing for me is I woke up this morning thinking ya, we can make the playoffs. Not sure if we WILL, but now I’m thinking it can be done.
