  4. The team is playing for Laviolette, and for the team name on the front. (Except Panarin; he’s doing those 2 and gunning for Hart Trophy.)

    Really enjoying watching this team.

Not perfect by any means, and quite a few players need to step up, but overall, they look a strong contender already

  5. duckets615

Thank you Columbus for playing a ridiculously passive empty net defense and thinking nothing bad will happen by letting the other team turn the ice into a shooting gallery for 90 seconds.

  6. RNGJesusRoller

Absolutely fucking love it but not gonna get too excited yet.

Four of the next five games are against the Devils, stars, penguins, and Bruins.

If they win 4 of the next 5 that’s when I start getting really excited.

  7. greysfordays

god I’m just so stoked beyond belief for laf and how things are finally working out for him, you can tell he’s been putting in work and he’s always grinding every shift so I’m glad stuff is lining up for him

  8. njerejeje

Any team contemplating hiring Gerard Gallant should take a long hard look at the Rangers(and specifically Lafreniere) last year and this year

  9. Key-Tip-7521

Vally throwing shade at Gallant about putting teams away.

  10. Is the Knicks home schedule really frontloaded? Are there lots of concerts at MSG? How are we going on another long road trip again already?

  11. unibobbler

Can’t say enough good things about the way Laf’s going right now; dude’s playing with so much swag. The only thing that bothers me is that I can’t **not** be mad at GG… Everything good about this season makes me mad at Gallant.

Lowkey worried about Lindgren though. He’s good for one trip to IR per season, but even with this five-day layoff, it’s not the best time given the other injuries.

Oh, and Hartemi Panarin ties Gilbert’s consecutive games to start a season point streak and it’s kind of an afterthought.

  12. Guyfromnewyork95

The Garden was ROCKING after Laf’s second. One of my favorite games I’ve ever gone to

  13. SmilingSarcastic1221

Why are the Rangers off all the way til Saturday?

  14. greysfordays

I can’t stop watching that laf shootout goal I mean the confidence the swagger he is absolutely feeling himself as he should hot damn 🥵

  15. FluffyPorcupine_

Went on an emotional rollercoaster at MSG tonight

  16. amusing_a_musing

Good: Laf getting into the right spots and using his shot effectively. He’s definitely more engaged but i think he has another gear to him. Trochek and Panarin were also both dangerous all game.

Cuylle is a beast and his never back down attitude is much needed jolt on the team.

Quick was spectacular. Made a number of grade A stops to keep it close throughout.

Gustafson looks better each game at reading the play and making plays

Ok: Defense stuck together even after loss of Lindgren. Both Trouba and Miller had their moments (both good and bad). Jones is trying but still doesn’t seem 100% comfortable.

Schneider. I don’t know I’m seeing less physicality and offense out of him than I expected. Just mediocre.

Kakko is struggling. He needs to pot a couple and regain his confidence to take over games.

    BAD: Refs.

  17. 8teamparlay

What a resilient win, yet again. Dare I say No Q**t in N*w Y*rk?

Wow. A lot of us, myself included, were totally wrong about Lafreniere. Man does crow taste good tonight huh?? To follow up a great 3 point effort with this performance? He looks faster, stronger and overall smarter with the puck. He’s got a ton confidence now too and even some swagger!! This is an absolute game changer for this franchise and completely changes EVERYTHING.

Now we can’t talk laf without talking panarin. He’s playing like 2019 right now. Should be getting some serious early season MVP chatter with Along with Petterson.

Trocheck had an incredible night tonight. A faceoff masterclass along with a great pass to laf on the first goal and being an overall pest. What a year he’s having.

Kreider had a good game tonight too. Ik we’ve been on him but he got the goal, a big assist on the tying goal, but for me it’s that play on laine in ot.

Speaking of tasty delicious crow: Jonny MF Quick. We don’t win without him tonight. What a game he had. He’s been a revelation so far. I feel extremely comfortable with him in net. (Speaking of, what’s going on with igor? Ik we’re winning and it’s good to make sure he’s healthy but this is like 5 games now. Hes gonna end up missing 3 weeks of hockey and could be pretty rusty. Whatever we’ll deal with it when we get there).

Hell of a job by the defense tonight, (great job defensively by the forwards too) stepping up after lindgren went down. It’s really shitty we’ve now lost fox and lindgren on dirty plays. It’s going to be really tough to win games without 55 and 23. That being said, 8 and 56 have been absolutely incredible this year. Gus has been one of our best players and trouba and Miller have been rock solid.

    Some negatives though:
2nd period was rough, Ik the refs were absolute dogshit tonight, really really really bad, but the 2 quick goals in the 2nd we can’t have those lapses.

93 is very lucky that the vibes are great and we’re winning games. I appreciate how much intensity he brings defensively but for 8.5 he’s gotta start hitting the net and bringing a little more offensively. I’m not worried about it he’ll be fine but he really does need to get going.

The discourse about 24 needs to stop. He has no offense. He’s a defensively responsible 3rd liner and that’s fine. People need to stop whining about him being moved down. If he wants to play up there again he needs to show some willingness to shoot the puck and have any sort of offense to his game. I think he can be a great asset on that 3rd line especially the way 50 is playing right now. When chytil gets back him and 24 seem to have great chemistry too so…. Think of it as a positive, I’m not trying to spend all year with people complaining about kakko not being on line 1.

Its a god damn shame how many injuries were getting hit with right now. It’s amazing we’re picking up all these points and getting a huge cushion!

Sorry for the long post I’m just fired up!! Those refs were really bad tn. Doesn’t matter we still won let’s go rangers!!!

  18. ItsHeadbangerG

[We win despite Torontos best attempt to meddle.](https://youtu.be/UW6qCau4mtI?si=nC15_QDPJ2LV5CVy)

I wish Lav would excoriate these « referees » but that would probably get him a tongue lashing from the league as a whole. I’ve seen some wacky shit happen in games across the entirety of sports, but the « intent to whistle » has to be one of the most made up on the spot bullshit judgements I have ever witnessed in my 35 years on this planet.

Now we did have our typical one garbo period and it’s an issue as usual, but I just cannot forgive the officiating this game. Calling off an obvious goal, wasn’t bad enough, but then they call back the correct 5 minute major when Lindy got boarded because….reasons.

Whatever we won. Fuck you refs. Fuck you Columbus. Fuck you Toronto.

    See you next weekend.

  19. The rangers won without their entire first defensive pairing, a back up goalie and with a 1 goal handicap, that’s impressive honestly

  20. RainandPixels

Quick needs 14 wins to have the most wins as an American born goalie. He has 378 and Ryan Miller has 391.

  21. NoahBagels

Refs still suck. Happy to get the win tonight!

  22. R4vi0981

I really like Cuylle’s game. To me he was the second star. Kids got fire, he’s not afraid of anything, and he’s effective at the forecheck.

  23. Wesley__Willis

Panarin out there looking like 05-06 Jagr right now. Points just seem inevitable when he’s on the ice. Guy is having a straight up superstar season.

  24. jkman61494

Gerard Gallant really came that whisker close to ruining Laf.

  25. JunkBallSpecialist

Another empty sheet for our 2OA BUST

  26. dcgirl98

Not our best game. Or at least not a solid 60 of effort. 🤞🏼 they work on that. But that French toast combo works well. And you can’t forget what Trocheck adds there. Really good line. Great game for Laffy. Mika seems a bit lost out there but we still have time for a Mika November. Refs were atrocious. Quick made some great saves to keep us in this. I’m really liking what I see from Cuylle and Gus. Hoping we’re not without Lindgren for too long. To be down Fox and Lindy? Just damn. On to the next. LGR!!!

  27. davegettlegod

With Panarin-Trocheck-Laf working as well as it is, when Chytil comes back we should put him with Cuylle and Kakko. That’ll be a nice boost to that line and hopefully Kakko starts producing next.

  28. Imagine if they traded Laf in the off-season and then this happened

  29. Substantial_Fudge717

I know Kakko is a bit dissapointing to start the season but would anybody be upset to have a young stud defensive forward like him in their middle six? we know he has more offense than hes putting up right now too. at the very least, the 40pt seasons worth he got last year, and at best more than that considering hes 22

he may never reach the heights of his draft status. my question is – who cares? he will grow into what he will grow into, hes SURELY not down growing yet and so theres only up from here, how ever high that is. and in the mean time, hes at least jesper fast. (the defensive part not the speed u know what i mean).

Theres no real need to be negative on him, we dont NEED him to be more than he is. i mean hell, we are one of the best teams in the league with only like 70% of the roster firing on all cylinders, even less now considering all the injurys

  30. MrMoscow93

In the pregame thread I said I wanted a big win to hold me over for this week of no games, but holy fucking shit I could not have hoped for anything close to that crazy of a win! LETS FUCKING GO RANGERS! I AM FUCKING PENISY! LAFFY-FUCKING-TAFFY!

  31. ShouniAishaKuma

    LGR!!

I really thought we were done for when the boys seemed to be getting frustrated and sloppy in the 3rd. Hard to blame em with the garbage officiating. Laf came in huge this game and I’m so happy to see it! Happy Bread’s streak is still going too.

I was skeptical about Lavi but he really brings a good mentality to this team and the systems have been helpful for sure. As always… Fuck GG lmao 🤣

A WEEK BREAK THEN ON TO THE NEXT ONE LGR

  32. Kooky-Version-1696

Jets game ruined my happiness from the “last laf” night

  33. Key-Tip-7521

This was a game that was a definition of battling through adversity. Where a goal was taken off the board, an injury, bad defensive plays, but finding ways to win. This episode of Rangers Hockey: *Three Blind Mice,* the Refs and the Jackets thought they had the win, but the Rangers ended up getting the last Laf. So, the review

1st: Lots of chances being exchanged. Defensively, way too many odd man rushes. This was noticeable in this game tonight. Opened up chances. Jackets got the first one. JQ was screened, and a tip in/deflection goal. Eh whatever. Loved the response by the Rangers. Kreids w/the goal and the beaut of the set ups by Gus and Wheels.

2nd: Well, if this was a period where everyone including me, used words that shall not be used on the internet, this was it. First, the Rangers took the lead from the hottest line on the team. Bread extends his point streak setting up Laf. What a goal. Then, the defensive breakdowns, bad breakout by wheels, which led to the Jackets tying the game. Then 18 seconds later, the Jackets took the lead. iced the puck, bad clearance led to the jackets goal. Then, came the chaos. Will Cuylle, whose been playing amazing (no one else knows his name besides Ranger fans), looked like he equalized. EVERYONE SAW IT GO IN, including the Spawts Pope, Stevie Wonder, and the ghost of Sam Darnold. But, the zebras and Leaf Land decided nope, we only help the Leafs because it’s the Leafs. However, was that the sole reason if the Rangers lost this game? no.

3rd: This period, I truly vented while watching this game. Kuraly elbowed Lindgren knocking him out of the game. Vally said empty the tank this period, and the Rangers did. Lots of one and done’s. PP wasn’t that great. However, the Rangers saved it for the very end. w/ less than 11 seconds left, Laf ties it. AND THAT GOAL COUNTED!!!

OT: lots of chances on both teams. Wish Kreids buried a shot or Mika. Either one. Then came the skills competition of the shootout and Laf gave the Rangers the lead and the eventual win in the shootout.

This game, was in fact, a game where teams find ways to win. The Rangers defensively tonight were shitty excluding JQ. He wouldn’t be denied. Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers. Unacceptable. Gotta clean that up. CBJ might be a « bad team » but they’ll be competitive. But, regardless the Rangers win! Another one. Entering a glitch part of the schedule where they will be off for days. Team needs the rest especially the injured players. Laf has been cooking. and I love it. Off till Saturday and onto the ~~Devils~~ « the NHL’s next unstoppable dynasty. »

Ranger Oppie saw Laf’s performance and called to say; « Take in the Sheets » 2 Points more in the bag.

    Great win!

God save the King. Back afta dis.

  34. ArcticFox514

Used to pray for time like this. What was Mika doing in OT tho

  35. Grouchy-Power-806

Im not ashamed to admit I’ve watched the tying goal about a dozen times.

  36. Vaeltaja82

I can’t remember when I’ve last time seen Rangers tie without the goalie or last time we won SO. Such a joy to get both of them today.

I’m kinda worried about Mika, he just doesn’t seem to find the net these days.

  37. BrutalBodyShots

That was a hell of a win. My 11 year old son and I didn’t get to turn it on until the 3rd period. He went nuts when the game was tied up and equally as nuts when Columbus missed that final shot. It was hard getting him to bed after the rush. Fun stuff!

  38. silverprayer

i took my 9 y/o niece to this game as her first rangers (and hockey)game ever and the first thing she asked was “when is the next one?!” 😭 such a special game
