Well in Kadri’s case, he has one option, keep producing. Either he supports the team’s performance through a lighter retool or he makes himself tradeable. Making himself $7M of dead salary would only steer things more down the path of a scorched Earth rebuild.

  2. If you don’t want to be apart of rebuild better start winning a lot more games. You’re in full control

  3. I think when player’s request a trade like this I would demand 2 things of the player.

    1. Wave your no trade so we can make it happen and actually negotiate.
    2. Play good hockey so other teams actually want you on their roster.

  4. If Kadri wants to move, the best thing he can do is step up his game. Make himself appealing to a team that needs that extra piece to go all the way. Play with some bite, be defensively strong and score some timely goals. Of course that’s what he was signed for originally. So if he does that the team might be better and he won’t need to be traded.

Ironically, Kadri and Huberdeau’s contracts are the main reason the Flames need to rebuild.

« Nazem knows where my office is if he wants to void his $49 million contract »

Well in all fairness, no one wants any part or him not producing. Give and take.

    Kadri wants to win.

    This subreddit: Fuck you Kadri!

Seriously. I don’t blame him, I’d want to win in his shoes as well. He should keep playing they way he has and their might be a market for him if the flames do rebuild. He probably knows that too. They ain’t buying him out, so if the flames go down the rebuild route, his tradability is in his hands.

    >Guys like Kadri, Blake Coleman and Jacob Markstrom pretty much guarantee that. When they joined the Flames in free agency, they did so believing the team was a contender. They’re all in their 30s and, surely, they were made certain promises about the team at least trying to compete for a Stanley Cup.

I appreciate that *was* the situation, but the reality is that they and the rest of the cast have not come close to delivering on that goal. I would not be motivated to deal them because of their ambitions, only on the potential return that can be obtained.

If anyone would take that contract I’d gladly move it. Rebuild or not lol

Another one requesting a trade. Awesome.

Is there a single human on the planet (other than Brad and Murray) who, at the time of signing, thought the Kadri contract was going to turn out good?

The ongoing and repeated blunders by this organization are just embarrassing to witness. I hope the Flames finish in 9th place every year for all eternity, can’t say we deserve any better.

You all are optimistic. Like the way the organization works i wouldn’t trust them with shit. Should let the club leave and buy the coyotes and a better arena deal. Losers gonna lose.

    Only two observations:

    1. This term, « contract ». Last time I checked it does kind of cut both ways. Kadri got rewarded for putting a boat anchor on him. Now he can figure out how to get it off. Which brings us to…
    2. There is so much destructive speculation in Calgary and Canadian press. No wonder no one wants to stick around. The guy’s finally on a roll and gelling with some awesome kids – let him be for a fucking minute, Dreger.

  15. No_Reporter_5023

All these players saying they don’t want to be part of a rebuild. But they have virtually un tradable contracts. There is an option they can mutually agree to terminate their contracts and then move on. Balls in your court Kadri you want your 7 million or you want to go to a contender for less than half of that because you cannot have both
