I like this better than the Vegas one, but its not great. I give it a 7.5/10
I love the jersey and I’m considering picking one up, I’m just confused on how the Utah Jazz had access to this when they have no correlation to Seattle as far as I’m aware
As a Seattle fan, trust me, we were ALL confused 😅 but that doesn't mean I won't be buying this immediately. It's important to note that the Kraken DO NOT own the rights to the Metropolitans look, and the owners aggressively defend the brand. So they couldn't really go "all the way" without legal issues.
I actually really like this. The only think I would do is put the white in the middle of you have the light blue at the bottom.
Seattle had a basically open palet and they came up with that. Disappointed, they could of really reached for something amazing. Is it me or is the first 'K' off a little.
I would give it a 4 out of 10.
The Metropolitans brands rights are held by an individual who will not license it out. So the Kraken had to make the jersey as close as they could to be similar while also remaining legally distinct from the original branding of the Metropolitans

My conspiracy theory on the marketing move is this and it's two-fold: the owner of the Utah Jazz has been campaigning hard for an nhl expansion team so this may be a weird good faith thing by the league. As for the Seattle side, the sonics are coming back in the next couple years so there is the Seattle NBA tie in.
I think either AEW or ROH, one of the two, leaked both jerseys.

Seattle's is FRESH
I like the jersey, it's the obvious design choice for a Seattle winter classic, I'm hoping the name and numbers are red with the off white trim (and yes i will be buying one). As for the 'leak' it really makes no sense at all and it's a bit amateur hour for me, would prefer to see a proper release by the teams at some kind of event, getting an NBA team and AEW involved really was not the best of ideas.
The leak process was weird. The Jazz wearing the jerseys, then them appearing on AEW's pre-show for Full Gear (I'm a wrestling fan, so I guess it is a cross-brand thing of two things I love).
But if I'm being honest, I love the jersey. I sort of like the tribute to the Metropolitans but made a bit more simplified. I love the off-white in there and the logo is a great use of Seattle's red makes it stand out more on the jersey.
I'll give it to Seattle. The jersey is a nice one. But since the NHL is such a idioticly operated league this happens with the leak. I'm starting to wonder how many things does the NHL suck at.

Agree this is bizarre. So here is my just as bizarre theory (based on zero facts/evidence): it has something to do with Seattle getting (another) basketball team. Seems unlikely that Utah would be relocating there though.

One thing we know. Utah Jazz owner, Ryan Smith, has been identified as a prospective owner by the NHL for the Salt Lake City market. Maybe it’s linked, somehow.
Man, I was really hoping for an excuse to buy a new jersey. Oh well, save some cheese for Christmas lol.

Took the Preds 20 years for a winter classic and the Kraken get one within five. Not even a big rivalry or anything, just two new teams. Imagine one between Calgary and Edmonton again.
