I know it’s super late so I don’t expect this to rly do good.. But, I know it may “ just be David Rittich” but his energy was amazing. Toronto’s getting a good one. Also, Double Upload week. See ya Wednesday!!
I hope he proves everyone that he can become a starter, or at least 1B. He is still youngish (29) enough to catch some knowledge and become better, yet he is not an unproven goalie. 🙂

I respect your opinion and while I agree with some of what you said, I still think Calgary gave every opportunity to Big Save Dave to succeed. Believe me, I wanted to see this guy succeed as much as anyone. Treliving did not fail him, I think Rittich failed to seize the opportunity. Rittich he lost the net last year to Talbot and the same in the year prior to Mike Smith…it wasn't that he just was randomly thrown to the wayside for a veteran going into the playoffs…he simply lost the net due to poor play down the stretch. Especially in the campaign last year…after the stick toss game in the shootout last year against Edmonton, his save percentage dipped well below .900 (cant remember the top number off my head it was in the .870 range) and he got pulled a handful of times and was flat out terrible.
Talbot simply outplayed Rittich down the stretch by a wide margin and he was the go to guy in the playoffs last year. Those last second goals in Games 2 and 4 cannot be solely pinned on Talbot. The goal in Game 4 was a screen shot from the point thru traffic as condensed as a Chinese freeway…I mean that does not fall solely on Talbot.
Game 6 should of been pinned on one mans shoulders and one mans only…Geoff Ward. Complete mismanagement of the game and he allowed that game to get as out of control as it did. This team does not deal with adversity well, and it can clearly be seen with their face plant on this current season. And on top of that, can you blame Brad Treliving for going out and signing a high-profile goaltender to try and end this franchise's revolving door since Kiprusoff retired? I don't blame him one bit for signing Markstrom.
I liked your video, but I would of liked if you mentioned how Rittich failed to seize the opportunity. He is going to be a starting goaltender in the right situation. A perfect situation for Rittich would be for him to sign in Detroit, Boston, San Jose or even Seattle of all places. Potential landing spots for the guy. But we all have to admit, what a diamond in the rough the Flames scouting team found, especially in todays day in age where it is even rarer for prospects to go unnoticed.
You honestly think he will get playoff time when it comes time for it? Unless Andersen is back they will be riding with Jack Campell through the entire thing. As they probably should.

Personally Rittich always seemed like a guy to have more of an up side than a down, when the rumors came out about the core potentially be shaken up I was expecting a bit more than Bennett and Rittich…

I COMPLETELY AGREE. RITTICH IS A EMOTIONIAL PLAYER. Watch him become and take-over #1 spot in Toronto. i think this was a bad move….So much younger than markstrom. Look at Leiland Irrvirngs stats hes killing it in Europe……calgary has no – 0 patience with drafted/undrafted goalies…..like shit, kipper was closer to his 30s than he was his 20s when sutter brought him here…..i dunno, this organization cant develop goalies or has patience for goalies…..loook at nashville….never had a goaltending issue.
I stopped watching the flames like a month ago, were doing my head in. Plus Cassie Campbells commentary . Been watching the red wings since, they grind and grind and grind even though they aren't a great team.
Rittich was my favorite player on my favorite team. I just hope the Leafs do well in the playoffs honestly

This frustrated me to no end, seeing both Smith and Talbot get the nod over Rittich for two straight seasons. The fact that he wasn't given a proper chance in the playoffs was a mistake. He's a good goalie, and we'll miss him. I hope he gets a shot as a starter on a good team. He deserves the best!
I'm a bruins fan so i can't really speak on rittich but every time i watched him play he was great. Looks like he'll be given a shot with toronto and i'm happy for him. Welp, leafs fans hate rittich. Somehow manage to blame everything on him. Toronto experience baby
I'm not happy with the trade. I wish the Leafs looked elsewhere for a goaltender. He may have done well at 1 point for Calgary but he's not a good fix in Toronto. As much as I'm not a fan of Andersen, I'd rather have Andersen in net then Rittch.

I'm a Leafs fan (I know) but I really hope they give Big Save Dave the net along with Jack Campbell this upcoming season. Freddie has had to carry the Leafs many times during his time but regardless of injuries this past season, I feel his time is up in Toronto.

I am not sure who it was, I forgot but he will always have a piece of this Devils fans heart. There was a special needs boy/young man (I think David's brother) and he loved Harvey the Hound (mascot) when Harvey met that boy…OMG…I cry even thinking about it.
As a flames fan I really do miss David Rittich. Sure he isn’t perfect goalie but he could’ve easily help team and lead it to a good playoff run, I hope he does come back to Calgary. We miss u Dave the save=(
