Falls in line with the rest of the shit calls refs seem to be making this year. I know there’s always complaining about bad calls but something about this season…

  2. Fair_Comparison_13

So we’d rather him what? Morph through him and sit down in the stands?

  3. bearwhidrive

Can’t hit the Very Special Boy’s brother, I guess.

  4. Deraj2004

Siegenthaler pushed him, the fuck? Thought Torts was about to jump over the boards.

  5. Happydanksgiving2me

I’m sorry I thought this was hockey.

  6. Hathaway is a punk but a major that was not.

  7. Diabo1492

He gets a little push from the devils guy too.

  8. shadyjb23

The whistle blew while the hit was happening, refs realize they messed up and then make situation worse. This is beyond ridiculous, can we just clean house on anyone in the NHL that deals with rules/safety?

  9. elsombroblanco

Don’t they have video replay to fix bad calls? Wtf are the refs doing

  10. Just_a_dude_online

Can we all agree the refs have been super shitty this year??

  11. RandyIsHim

Not worth a 5 or a misconduct the hit was clean

  12. JerbearCuddles

It sucks that Luke Hughes got hurt, but come on man. Hit was by all rights pretty clean. If anything you call the icing earlier. And if you watch, you can see Sieganthaler push Hathaway into Hughes. Absolutely brutally bad call. And I say that as someone that is a fan of the Hughes brothers.

  13. Radiant-Shine-8575

Unless this is an icing call this is soft AF.

  14. Isphet71

2 minutes sure whatever. Sent the dude flying close enough for his momentum to take him hard into the boards. It’s a bit borderline but I’d understand 2.

    But 5? Are they high?

  15. Tequilacowboybouncer

These Hughes bros can’t catch a break with the boards and their shoulders lately

  16. Exciting_Ad4264

Zebra: *watches a man slap another with a hockey stick* 😴
Also zebra: *watches clean hit with big size difference* 😱😱😱😱

  17. SnooHamsters8997

They changed the rule specifically for this…Call the icing when you are supposed to and we wouldn’t be having this happen….refs made the call because they knew they messed up…typical ref logic

  18. shanster925

Intent to injure….on the refs, that is

  19. Sr_Raisin_bran

Did the refs have knee pads ? They do alot of blowing

  20. Aggravating-Truck829

Bad call he got pushed by the other guys team mate, typical call though prissiest get hurt and even if your not in the wrong arm goes up cause refs rely on the aftermath to make a call

  21. PaganNinja

When stars get hurt it’s a penalty and a suspension. When superstars do illegal things and injure players (e.g. Tkachuck) no penalty or suspension, simple as that. NHL only cares about advertising revenue. The game of hockey is secondary.

  22. TakoyakiGremlin

the nhl must tell the refs to fuck up to some degree just to keep things interesting lol

  23. rickzaki

Do the refs get fined for blowing a call like this and resulting an injury.

  24. mortycakes

I don’t like the hit but that’s the refs fault big time

  25. OhmyGhaul

How is it that every hit on this guy = game misconduct

  26. ChoirTeacherRog

I’m a Pens fan and even I feel bad for the Flyers on that call

  27. Is it me or are the refs blowing a lot of calls this year. I know it’s always happening but this year seems egregious.

  28. MyOtherCarIsAHippo

He does not need to finish his check that way. He seems to know contact is coming and could have just wrapped him up. He chose to be Garnet Hathaway.

  29. Fuck man the refs are the worst I’ve ever seen. Those betting agencies though

  30. Effective-Pin1707

Gary Bettman’s fault for these terrible officials. Everything wrong with the NHL is his fault!! FIRE BETTMAN!!!

  31. AvailableLog4238

Can we place bets on what shit calls a ref will make during a game?

  32. weezeloner

I’m way too new at this to definitely say what type of punishment this merits but I feel like there are a few factors that should have been considered before levying what seems to me to be a severe penalty.

    1. The Flyers player is clearly pushed right before the contact

    2. The Devils player who got hit is most definitely letting up and somehow completely oblivious to the fact that a giant brick wall of a man was bearing down on him. He made no attempt to protect himself in that situation and that made the hit so much harder.

    3. Again, I am no expert on the reputation of the Flyers player. If that is Tom Wilson or anyone like him then I may have a harder time accepting my assertions at 1 and 2.

  33. Overwhelming_Sound

Idk why Luke Hughes thinks he can get away going into the corners or by the boards and expecting to not get hit. This is the second time in what 3 games. Where he goes in expecting to get the puck but gets crushed. Wtf. Learn a lesson before it ends you.
Whether it’s penalty or not or even worth a five I don’t know. But the lack of awareness will end his career.
