#nhl #carolinahurricanes #letsgocanes #newyork #newyorkislanders #hockey #nhl23 #nhlpredictions #nhlpicks #raleigh #raleighnc #northcarolina #stanleycup #canes

The first goal was a nice play by the Islanders. That was on Fast who was puck watching. Not much he could do on that. Second was the tip on the PK. In my opinion was the last three that was on PK. The shorty is do to the bad PP system that the coaches will not move away from. It's not the players it's the PP system that has not worked for three years now. That umbrella with zero net front just passing the puck around the umbrella is easy to read for the other teams PK unit. That creates opportunities for them to turn the puck up ice. PK should have stopped that one but the PP did turn it over. The PP needs Staals big frame in front of the goalie!!! He is still one of the bests at tipping the puck in. The points need to move the puck side to side before taking the shots. The PP unit #1 is on the ice for too long!!!
The question is what do you do about the goal tending??? Do you make a trade? If so who do you go after? Who do you deal? To get anyone good you will need to pay dearly. Who are you willing to give up? Before anyone says TDA and Drury, all you are getting for them is a couple of draft picks. The Canes are the only ones who want TDA!!! Nobody is looking at dry toast Drury!!! So are you willing to sell the farm in Suzuki and Ponomarev? Both Suzuki and Ponomarev had a better camp and Suzuki had a much better preseason than Drury and should have replaced Drury after he was back from injury. I understand sending him to the AHL for conditioning reasons but get him up here. Both are better than Drury. I will say Drury has been playing better as of late but he is still toast with no butter! So who are you willing to part ways with? You must first see who has that No Trade Clause or Modified No Trade Clause. Then you have to look at the cap hit. Money leaving and money coming. Lots of factors go into trades. The Canes can afford to trade some draft picks as they do have a good prospect pool. However with not having an AHL team this could become an issue with development. Or do you give another unsigned goalie a PTO? This makes more sense. The very first thing is you can not play these two goalies more than two games in a row. To me that is a goalie coach issue. That is the one change that has been made in the last couple of years. He may be over coaching them. PK was good in his last game. He was aggressive. This game he was not. Almost as if he was told to be less aggressive. (over coached) Raanta will most likely come back with a strong game in his next start. He always does. All goalies seem to be going through bad spurts this year. The Garden was chanting Igor sucks last game. Another thought. Could PK be sick? He stays with Svech. Svech has the flue. The Canes are still in a good place.
