This popped in to my Google recommendations this morning, and it made me annoyed.
In the past two games, Kostin has showed his value as to why he’s important to this team & why he’s a fan favourite. If Kostin is playing, other teams know not to fuck with the Wings.
Is he way off his 2022-23 pace where he scored 11 goals and 21 points in 57 games last season? Sure.
But Kostin shows in ways that the box score doesn’t always reflect.

Kostin only having two points is totally fine. Even if hes not producing points he literally doesnt need to be and he probably will at some point. Love the guy and im happy we have two years of him

If you expected a big dude that can play with grit then he’s a good fit if you expected some production to go along with it then hes a bit disappointing so far. I like the player I’d like Kostin, Ras Fischer back as a line.

Klim is a fan favorite who hasn’t been a complete liability on the ice.
Lol, alternatively (and more truthfully) these writers should be traded to a hard labor camp, because their current shtick just ain’t a fit.

The Hockey Writers are a bunch of morons, Klim Kostin is a perfect fit for what Yzerman is trying to build in Detroit.
Well their job is generating clicks and subs.
Mr. Yzerman’s, and to a lesser extent, Mr. Holland’s, is building a hockey team.
They are bound to disagree at times.
I’m going with the idea that it’s a poorly-researched piece, but also some wishful thinking on the writer’s part. Didn’t realize the Wings have carried 12F and a 22-man roster most of the season. Didn’t realize they’ve gone 11/7 a few times out of necessity (less about Klim’s play) and that one of the games he sat was a minor personal conduct thing (being late or something, IIRC.) Mostly I think this writer – and probably other EDM fans – just miss having Klim on their team.
Realistically, he’ll probably be the odd man out, but there’s no reason to think the Wings « need » to move him. He’ll still rotate back onto the fourth line a fair bit. Pretty sloppy article, even for THW.
