I have been skeptical on Jeff Skinners game by the way he forces stuff in the offensive zone, but have as a whole given him a break since he is generally productive offensively. I did not realize how much of a liability he has been in the defensive zone though. There is a video in the replies to this tweet showing his effort on a goal against the bruins and it is very telling. Jeff skinner is a liability to this team.

  2. For reference, in a standard distribution, about 99.7% of data points should be represented within three standard deviations. If there are about 900 players who appear in the league in a normal season, there might be like 2-3 guys with worse xGA/60 over the course of that time window.

    Not exactly ideal.

I mean yeah, as much as it’s memed, Skinner is someone who measures their career in goals. He’s always been this way. I feel like most coaches would treat him like Kruger did honestly. It’s only in Granato’s lack of system/ lack of accountability that he can « thrive ».

  4. The decision making process of most of our players in the offensive zone confounds me, but Skinner has been particularly careless with the puck in the offensive zone. Don’t know what the fuck happened to our teams offensive zone ability this year.

[Here](https://imgur.com/Y4vGAy7) is the same chart from last season. My hypothesis is that the shift to a more defensive minded team approach has negatively impacted Skinner’s offense, which in turn negatively impacts his defense as he ends up spending more time in the defensive zone. The Sabres have two players (Skinner and Dahlin) who seem particularly sensitive to changes in a team’s system and their transition to Granato’s new vision has been less than ideal thus far.

He’s like Patrick Laine. He’s not gonna try defensively no matter what. Coaches can do whatever they want to get him to play better defensively and he will not do it. All you can do is try to get the most out of his offense.

Well that confirms the eye test. Dude is a giveaway machine. So many blind passes that go to nobody – at least nobody on our team. When they work, they look amazing though.

  8. Love when people tried to argue he’s worth $9 million 😂

It’s funny because we all look passed it because he is so gifted offensively. If you’ve played the game and you watch him it’s very rough to watch how much of a liability he is defensively.

I’ve said before that this team won’t make the playoffs until Skinner is off the roster. I stand by that assertion.

I mean, it’s not bad for a guy who judges his career on goals.
