Damn right. This guy can do whatever the hell Rick tells him to do after that BS trade stunt he attempted.

That 3rd line looks like our first some nights, it’s a shame he opts for basically only low% shots from impossible angles but regardless his line is able to keep the puck in the O zone for most of their shift on a regular basis which is huge.

Honestly a Joshua/Garland pair with Suter/Bleuger is such a good 3rd line come playoffs

Why would he? Benning already gave him the bag

One comment I saw about Garland earlier is that he’s the type of player who needs to drive a line. He doesn’t play an ancillary role very well.

His time with Petey or Millers line wasn’t very effective, because they typically drive the line and are frankly better players than him. But on the third line he can thrive because guys like Joshua and Blueger/Suter can play the support role better to his game.

He’s snakebitten offensively but the line is still making things happen and I’m sure the points will eventually come

The points will come for Garly. He’s been playing hard every night and really pushing the play of his line. That effect had rippled on Joshua who’s been playing some of his best hockey in a Nucks jersey. I just want Garland to keep doing what he’s doing. He’s entertaining to watch every night.

The problem isn’t necessarily Garland himself, but that cap hit. 3rd liner who doesn’t do much on the PP and isn’t really a penalty killer who also isn’t really producing. PDG does what Garland does for much cheaper.

I don’t really believe him on the « I didn’t ask for a trade » thing, whether he’s doing the « well it was my agent » business or not. But I also don’t care. I said at the time there was no way to trade him that would actually make the team better, now or for the balance of his deal, and his play (even without scoring much) demonstrates that I was right. He is the most consistently strong even strength player the team has.

Being able to drive a bottom 6 line and make it a positive force is enormous and will be even more important in the playoffs.

  9. People will probably still argue it but I knew he never asked for a trade and I’m glad he confirmed it. Mgmt had been trying to trade him all last season and then people ran with the agent change as evidence for the rumour of him wanting out being true. When Tocchet said he never heard Garland say he wants out I knew it was just media bs.

Anyway he’s thriving on that third line and the points will come. He already just got two pts from the NJD and Minnesota games. He actually could have had more in all three last games if some of those Joshua chances finished. The whole line is always insane at drawing penalties and I’m hoping with Suter coming back soon that he can be the final touch for finishing.

He makes plays and goes balls to the wall every night. It’s amazing he doesn’t have more goals and points. Especially on the boards he’s a terror.

While the points aren’t exactly coming for him, he and his line mates do really well at possessing the puck which means the other team doesn’t have it. Just because you’re not scoring doesn’t mean you aren’t contributing. Would I like to see more points from him? Absolutely! For his cap and salary, I’d like to see him score and get more assists but if he can contribute on the defensive side more then that is also fine.

I wish he had a better shot. It’s really his only weakness as he gets into a lot of scoring areas and is getting the chances. It’s just his shot is such a muffin that it’s not a challenge to save.
