Jim Nill and the Dallas scouts have drafted horribly. This team could be very scary if we had young draft prospects like a Kyle Connor busting into the lineup. I have high hopes for Hintz to improve our depth issues in the coming years, maybe even this season. In my eyes at least, a second round draft pick (Hintz) is your most impressive forward prospect, that’s scary. Dellandrea is at least a year out. This team needs to figure out how to draft quickly or they’re not gonna develop enough talent to compliment Seguin and Benn. Benn and Klingberg were both drafted in the later rounds, but it seems their success with 1st rounders is very poor.

Everyone is writing off Spezza after one bad year. It’s his first year he hasn’t scored over 50 points in his career. I think he plays between Janmark and Nischuskin and has a bounce back year with the new coaching staff and system. His numbers can’t be worse than what he did last year.
Heiskanen will be in Dallas top 4. Easily.
As a Stars fan, I honestly don’t see it happening with this roster. This current roster doesn’t seem to have that punch or a winning identity. This team looks incredibly lost and scattered. And after this year, especially with the uncertainty that seguin re-signs, it’s going to look even worse. Nill and his gang of goofs haven’t the slightest idea what they are doing at the draft table. Every year is off the board (with the exception of Heiskanen). And all of his prospects are the definition of mediocrity. Puck carriers that have no clue what to do with it once they’re in the offensive zone. The team looked better two years ago. The only light at the end of the tunnel that I could possibly see is our new coach and Heiskanen actually being as good as we hope.
Jim Nill does not have much talent sitting in its American Hockey team. Dellandrea will end up back in the OHL for one more season.
Can you do the LA Kings? or are you planning on doing all 31 or some variation of 30 teams?
I don't see how Dallas can expect to get karlson a top 3 defender in the leauge but not expect to give up klinberg…even klinberg and a 1st is a great deal for a amazing defenceman in his prime
Martin Hanzal not on the team?
As a very new fan of Hockey i appreciate your videos! They have helped me learn the game a lot more in depth. The Stars are the team i root for and i appreciate you taking time to talk about them. Right now i see them as a team that could make the playoffs but it will be very hard. When got deal with the Jets, Blues, and the Wild.. if they can get the Eric trade done they will have a better shot.
If Dallas was in any other division than the Central, I would say they are a playoff team. Now I simply don't know.
Dallas has that great first line, then it drops. After the first D pair it drops. A goalie that is good but hurt all the time. Add that all together, and consider they are in the ultra competitive Central Division it is going to be a challenge.
A fringe team surely. They’ll have a good start but that top line will wear down and Bishop will get hurt. They’ll have a tough losing skid that’ll take them out of the postseason.
I think Dallas has a shot at the playoffs this upcoming season for sure.
I think Hanzal is supposed to be the second line center. As a stars fan myself, I understand leaving him off.
I don't understand why Nill would go after EK. He's not what they need.
I think Karlsson would be a great get, but we should stay the course with Heiskanen. Also I believe we could get a top 6 winger via trade easier than Karlsson. Pleasantly surprised by your perception of Smith, I love what he brings to the lineup. I see Nichushkin as a top 6- he greatly improves possession on any line he plays on, and it would be awesome to have him and Radulov find chemistry.
Couple improvements/corrections: Hintz could be a LW but I believe he gets most his minutes at C in the A. He is our current top hope (from within) to play 2C in the lineup. Also you need to switch Honka and Heiskanen. Heiskanen played RD this year but has played LD and is left handed. Honka is a RD.

Im very optimistic about this year, but at the end of the day we need to see results. Nill is officially on the hot seat right now and if they dont make playoffs he might be gone. Seguin is gonna wait to see how this year goes before talking extension. If they once again cannot make playoffs then Seguin is gonna go somewhere they can put a team around him. He is too good to not be playing playoff hockey. Nill is a good GM, but my goodness he has been terrible at drafting. Whether it's bad luck or bad picks it doesn't matter at the end of the day. His best picks are still 3rd liners. Win or lose I'll be to support my team, but man would it be nice to be waving towels in April.
Stars looked pretty disinterested in closing out the season, and it was the difference in them missing the playoffs. This vid doesn't mention that Hitchcock was replaced by Montgomery. Hopefully him and Heiskanen are enough to get them to the dance.
At least it's not like years past where their goaltending has huge question marks. Bishop is capable of putting up a .920+. That's the move I praise Nill for the most.
Now they need to go after Pacioretty, Panarin or Skinner.

They are just missing the depth, behind that first line I don’t see much. It’s been these teams with depth players that have had cup running success. They’re weak down the middle, and it’s very bad that they didn’t land Tavares because I think he would’ve pushed them to contenders.

Hintz played center in Finland, maybe give him a shot at a center role to add more depth down the middle.
This was like seeing my thoughts about the Stars (I am a Stars fan) being voiced by someone else. Dallas' problems have only been compounded by horrendous drafting under Nill which has resulted in a dearth of ready-to-play prospects and anyone who thinks that Nichushkin is going to be some kind of immediate panacea for the Stars' secondary scoring woes is dreaming, considering the circumstances under which he left and his general lack of hockey IQ.
Safe bet is on Stars finishing 6/7 in the Central
I think a key part of Nichushkin’s evolution will be having Rads in the room. Having someone that speaks the same native language, and a similar career path will give him the much needed motivation.

This could be the year of a start of good chemistry with a new coach Jim Montgomery and adding veterans like Blake comuea and khoudbin plus I like the development of devin shore. he lacks some skill but has great leadership.nichuskin can have a comeback year all we need is a healthy roster by not wearing out are players.

How excited are you about the addition of mascherin? I feel like he could play this season that guys going to have one of the best shots in the league. I hope he turns out and gets faster because he’ll be an absolute weapon in my opinion
Honestly I am a dallas fan but they need to focus on the center position. Spezza is no longer good and we dont have many centers. And the defense I think we can do better but I wanna see how the stars do this season i hope they can progress
Hopefully Radulov takes Nichushkin under his wing.
Lindy Ruff has a history with not being too liberal with giving ice time to players that have a high ceiling. He killed Grigorenko’s potential and severely damaged Nichushkin’s.
