Should have asked for Grundstrom instead of Kupari

I hate when people rag on Chevy. He’s been dynamite at trading players that ask out of wpg and getting a return. You know how much your bargaining drops when the other team knows the player wants to be traded. Just look at the Kane situation, trouba situation, now the Dubois situation. He’s gotten really good returns. He’s drafted pretty well. The jets don’t make huge ufa signings in the off season but that’s not his fault. He could overpay at that time (think kadri in cal) but he doesn’t. Truth is it’s hard to convince a player (his gf or wife) to move to wpg. You are starting to hear more players speak good on wpg but it’s hardly gonna change when it’s -30c in January.

My dad just kept texting me’thank you Dubois 😄’ all game

Others players may go to big markets first. But ultimately, having money from the salary cap and being willing to spend it and make commitments, is what keeps the best players here. Playing careers are short and players must maximize their income.

Many don’t have the choices they think they have, if they want to keep their salary high. The top salaries on other teams are already committed.

I am 100% on board with Chevy. When he is backed against a wall, there is no better Gm in this league. He has one of the best scouting/drafting teams in the league and makes great picks in every draft. He hasn’t handcuffed this team to bad UFA contracts and realistically kept our window open from 2016-Now. Half the people in this sub wanted coach gone, GM gone, players gone, start over. It’s all BS. Chevy has given this team every opportunity to win without holding on for dear life and signing terrible contracts.

And Laine injured again, Roslovic hardly a NHL player at this point.

Vilardi might end up being the best player out of that combo of trades. Iafallo extremely useful. See what Kupari can do.

Great haul for the one player who hasn’t lived up to his billing.

  8. Grant1972

Maybe I have blinders on, but I can’t think of a player who has left Winnipeg and had better success.

Chevy is playing GM on HARD mode. He’s basically had next to nothing for bargaining power whenever we’ve had players publicly request trades and he’s always managed to get fair to plus value on any returns. And whenever the media comes back to cover the Jets with only negative story’s he stands up for us full of class and responds accordingly. He’s not without his warts but I don’t have faith in anyone else to not mortgage our future to insure a present job.

    ⚠️TRADE OFFER⚠️

    I receive: one mediocre player

You receive: a better player and a bunch of other assets

  11. Cindycrockett

Haha! Best trade ever! Pouty pants Dubois can enjoy LA until he stomps and pouts for a trade😂

  12. bradshaw17

The wildest part is they tacked on a 2nd rounder (and it’s montreals at that, so should be in the mid 40’s overall). All players have control left, and brings a ton of depth needed to roll 4 lines.

  13. beastiedan

Great trade, but the kings are a great team this year too. Can’t ignore that. They gave up spare pieces to get the guy they wanted.

  14. RickMoransdirtysocks

Hey! We’re in first, he’s going a lot of shit right!

  15. Murky-Attorney-3786

And that dummy is waking up in LA while his dad and mom wake up in winnipeg. He doesnt care now, but he could have lived in the city with his parents. He would have had kids and the grandparents would have been on town with him. He would have been one of a very small minority of lucky people. But instead, he will bang puck bunnies and get one pregnant and then realize that he will have strangers helping raise the kid. Oh well

  16. Spiritual_Holiday511

Chevy has made it hard to argue that anyone else in the NHL is a better GM.

  17. WlNNIPEGJETS

Cant wait for Steve Dangles Trade Tree. Knowing Steve’s hate for the Jets, I guarantee it wont happen.

  18. Bagelchu

2 top six players, a starting 4th liner, and a pick, all for an underperforming brat who didn’t wanna be here

  19. Roguevirus69

Chevy once again victimizes another gm.

  20. Btiel4291

Sorry, but no. 11 years and they’ve reached the West finals once. They’ve been stocked with prospects from day 1 and have nothing to show from it. I don’t know why Chevy still has a job. Not to mention he was in management at Chicago and was aware of the sexual harassment yet somehow didn’t get canned for it. Dude should’ve been gone 3+ years ago.

  21. zeroyon04

Just look through that recent « Who’s that “ONE” player from your favorite team that needs to go? » thread on r/hockey, and you’ll find several ex-Jets that are highly upvoted. For example… Myers, Laine, and Dubios. I’m likely forgetting more.

Chevy has done pretty good with how hard it is to attract players to play in Winnipeg.

  22. wiggleee_worm

Man i just hope the Jets make it all the way

  23. intuitivewave

Didn’t we realize we got a 2nd draft pick too, nice!

  24. warrenjets

I had commented 5 months ago that i expected PLD to be a buyout by the tail end of the contract. Some asshat living in his mothers basement called me out suggesting i was wrong because PLD is a generational centre.

Short sample size but nobody is going to pay PLD $8.5 million for 8 years of 0.5 ppg.

Maybe that troll was right though. At this rate he will be bought out before the tail end of the contract

  25. FUCK PLD. Winy little bitch who puts himself above his team.
