Kane will likely lead Chicago in overall scoring, but I would not bet against DeBrincat leading them in goals.
It seems the NHL is better with a good Chicago team …
Crawford and Lehner will be the two x-factors. This team will go as far as those two goaltenders can take them.
These are my standings In the west.
Central:
1. Jets
2. Stars
3. Blues
Pacific:
1. Flames
2. Knights
3. Canucks/Coyotes
WC:
1. Predators
2. Avalanche/Blackhawks
Sharks took a step back losing Nyquist and Pavelski
Blackhawks got alot better. But I don't see them finishing 3rd. Alot of teams look better than the Blackhawks. But I won't be surprised If they take the Avalanche's spot and make playoffs.
Coyotes also got better. Won't be surprised If they take the Canucks spot.
Ducks haven't done anything this off season.
Wild haven't done anything this off season.
Kings haven't done anything this off season.
Have never been really impressed with Toews as a 1C – chronically overrated
As a Blues fan, they still scare the piss out of me. Even on a "down" year they're still rough. I believe we went 1-4 on them last year and it was just constant overtime losses and barely coming up short. Probably would've gone down in 6 or 7 if they had squeezed into the playoffs. We seem to rotate series wins, so hopefully someone does away with them before we face them this year if we both make it.
Go Hawks
I have them 4th, but they will make the playoffs.
If Lehner can prove those good years weren't a fluke and the defense can hold the line. They potentially could make it. How far they go if they make it? Who knows. If you can make it anything can happen.
Where is cat
Central is the strongest division this year for sure. Probably be 5 out of the 8 playoff spots in the west.
Complete BS on Chicago offering the 3rd overall pick to move Seabs, that is just ridiculous to suggest it was A. offered, and B. not instantly taken.
Your finish predictions, a little low… but awesome jersey! ; )
I agree with the acessment. It comes down to getting "not horrible" goaltending.
Scoring was good last year. The future is bright. Can't wait to see Boqvist and Dach in the NHL.
Was a good offseason. If I could undo the jokiharu and maatta trades it would have been a great offseason
What about ejdsell and dahlstrom?
3rd to 6th in the league or division?
I'm stoked for the season
They acquired Quenneville to convince dumb fans that Quenneville is still on the team
Kane could hit 1000 pts this season.
Jeremy seems to be doing okay as coach …youngster, 33 yrs old 👽
Lehner might also be a darkhorse. I know he only had one good season, but you can't underestimate someone who turned their life around and has a year to prove his worth. Lehner is a possible Vezina candidate in my opinion. As someone who has seen and been through addiction/mental issues, the burden that is relieved with a proper treatment plan is enough to make you a different person.
A friend of mine questioned my sanity for saying this, but I still believe it: Chicago can make a run this year. A healthy DeHaan will do wonders for that blueline, and either Crawford or Lehner can steal games if healthy. If Strome keeps adding to that offensive depth, Chicago should take a wild card spot or 3 seed and could upset anyone in 7….and if one of Sikura/Dach/Nylander make the jump, man alive is that forward group scary.
As a Blues fan, I hate it.
Horrible along with my other favorite Midwestern team red wings
Love chicago depth on blueline finally….not sold on depth at center tho…toews needs another good year and strome I'd still like to see 1 more decent yr out of him b4 I'm sold on him…if dach can play his way on to team then to me that solves problem..I …love him…key tho is Crawford to stay healthy…lehner good back up or good to play 50 50 role only with Crawford…I'm not a huge lehner fan and it will show I'm right after this yr that playing in NYI system is what made him good cause he isn't….I say hawks tho 4th in div and do make playoffs in 8th overall in conf….unless Crawford goes down and delia can't cut it… cause if it falls in lehner hands its over for hawks and making post season….no way!
With Lehner and an upgraded blueline they will be better. Don't sleep on the Hawks
Kubalik is better than Kahun
I love the hustle Shannon, keep it up
The biggest problems for the Hawks are a terrible PK and a strong Central Division. The Hawks have taken steps to correct the Pk with moves this Summer. Play well within the division and they will qualify for the Cup playoffs.
When Coach Colliton took over he didn't really change the system up very much if at all because he didn't want to change suddenly. So he played a lot of Coach Q's tactics. Where he struggled was not trusting some of his depth players as much and I think we saw that with a huge increase in minutes for guys like Kane and Toews and that lead to a sluggish start. After he started trusting his guys and got some additions he started changing some little things, but not so much. Now the question is does he try and change the game plan to his tactics this off season or does he leave what was working in the end.
That said I absolutely think this is a playoff team. Honestly thought last year was one too though, but the coaching change caused enough of a bump that they never could fully recover. They were close, but never could get over that hill. Now they have greatly improved and Colliton seems to learned from his early mistakes, so I'm excited to see this team play again. Even if they aren't the best or win the cup, simply getting to the playoffs would be great to see again.
Hopefully the Blackhawks finish 3rd
Let's Go Hawks!
I swear sikura has to go
I think the Hawks will surprise alot of people this year. Everyone seems to be selling them short just because they missed the playoffs 3 years in a row. If all the pieces fall together though, I believe this team is a legitimate cup contender. Stan addressed all the problems this team had last season – goaltending, grit, PK and poor defensive players. As a Hawks fan I'm really excited for this season.
As a Hawks fan on Paper I see this Team Winning the Stanley cup and I see the Avs and Blues Facing Off in 1st round of playoffs next year
Dylan Strome was the steal of the year, bar none! The Hawks now have a 1st line centre for many years. He was the turning point of their season last year he's just starting. That trade took them from a rebuilding basement dweller, to a rebuilding "look out" team. He'll take over from Toews soon.
Chicago Blackhawks are tricky to pick in a tough Central Division. They're a bubble team but may squeak in if Robin Lenher continues to play strong.
Bring back john hayden and wear 40 forever he is from chicago
We need our old blackhawks players back to help shawzy and versteeg out
Adam Boqvist. He’ll make the opening night roster, book it.
Look for another great year from Toews, he had a sneaky good year last season, look on him to build on that momentum with a new energized Hawks team. Potential to be a scary playoff team if their D and goaltending is sured up!
you nailed it. I agree that the big problem they have is the albatross of a contract they made with Seabrook who is so far past his prime that frankly he should be a healthy scratch 9 nights out of 10. He takes up a lot of cap space and a valuable roster spot. And they are stuck with this guy – granted, who had great years in the past – for years yet. I wish they could find a way to get him to waive his no-movement clause and frankly give him away for a 5th round pick. to anyone. but clearly who would want him unless they were one of those teams struggling to hit the salary floor? he's keeping younger guys from getting a spot on the roster and may make it hard to sign the RFA's they need to retain next summer
I think people need to realize Dylan Strome is one of the best hockey players on this team
And he could easily put up 80 points this year .50 assist 30 goals I’m calling for #17 Stromer .dedrincat could easily put up 50 goals this yr playing with Kane and Strome.
I think you’ll see the hawks in a playoff run especially if they get 3rd pick datch on the ice.
The one comment I have is that the Hawks opening day roster is not set at forward. A lot of people see Dach and Kubalik making the roster which means who is going down to Rockford? You keep 12 forwards, right? So right off you have Kane, Toews, DeBrincat, Saad, Strome- these are givens. Next tier, they signed Carpenter, Shaw, Smith. How do you not keep them on the roster barring injury? so that's 8. So then you got Cagguila, Kampf, Perlini, Nylander, Kubalik, Dach, fighting for 4 spots. I think that's where it gets interesting. Perlini and Kampf are known quantities and probably have the inside track on 2 spots and the Nylander, Kubalik, Cagguila, and Dach battle it out for the other two spots. Kubalik is a stud, but no NHL experience and is only on a one-year deal so he might get that shot before he becomes an RFA next year. the Hawks really liked Dach in camp. Cagguila brings great energy and is well liked. who knows how it shakes out? could be interesting.
Hawks fan since '67. Don't have high hopes this year yet.
