  1. Crazy how he was on a goal drought. Seemed like him catching Gretzky was a certainty, but now he might not.

  2. He's old and aint beating Gretz record. Only ones thinking that are brain dead Cap fans 😂😂

  3. Google Gretzky’s Career goals. He has 1016 total career goals (Including the playoffs). Ovechkin has 899 career goals. He’s still short 117 goals from the great one. I don’t know why people are so excited about him just breaking the regular season record…..Playoff goals are just as important, since you know…they lead to a cup, hahah.

  4. I still say that for whatever reason, he has been holding back this year and trying NOT to score. I’ve watched some of his games and I don’t see the same power in his shot. It has nothing to do with age either as he had the power last season and the end of last season wasn’t that long ago. It reminds me of Barry Sanders in a way. Barry could have gotten the rushing record but retired early. Drew Breeze should hold many of the major passing records in the NFL but he retired. Things go on behind the scenes that we are unaware of. Ovi should become the greatest scorer in history but it may not be what is wanted. Gretzky is the GOAT in the eyes of the NHL. I hope OVI is allowed to go for the record but I’m not sure if it’s in the cards for him to do so. He may retire early for “injury” reasons etc…
