  1. I truly believe Martin was brought solely for the purpose of helping shore up the team's defensive play but the poor results, 3 losses in a row, gave the team little choice. Lose the coach or the fans.

  2. Almost missed this, didn't see this thumbnail in the mess of other subscriptions. This is not an appeal for you to put stupid reaction faces in your thumbnails. 🙂

  3. Let me just thank DJ for all the work he's put in to try and get this team to the next level.

That being said, heard someone today say the "fun uncle time" is over. This group needs leadership that holds everyone accountable.

  4. Considering the timeline of events over the last few weeks, if I bump into Jacques, I would be tempted to ask him, "Hey, Jacques…vulture much?"

  5. At least it's not like Bruce Boudreau where not only did they let him come in the morning, run a practice and talk to the media, but they let him do that for 2 weeks…

  6. Lots of people hate it, but love the Sens jersey you're wearing. Should be interesting with Martin as coach. Go Sens!!

  7. Why is there much thought about why the coach was fired oddly? This was a sign at the beginning of the new ownership when Aundlauer decided to keep DJ Smith for as long as he has. This just goes to show that the new owner is not really a hockey man. More of a business man.

  8. thats what i was thinking too what the heck is martin doing in our team and i started to think something is cooking up and my instict was right

  9. Lol "fun practice" after a devastating loss. As a head coach youre supposed to put the players through the ringer in the next practice to get results not be soft on them

  10. How in hell he kept his job through the past couple years is baffling. Players defended him, so maybe he was nice. But my god, with any team that took themselves seriously, hed have been gone years ago.

  11. Hired to be fired. Gotta be an extra layer of stress on top of the already pretty stressful job. DJ seems like a real good guy. Wish him luck.

  12. For ages.. it seems..A coaching change here has been seen as such a needed move from so many around the league!

DJ Smith was terrific at getting this team to a place of positivity early in his tenure…a breath of fresh air after star players left Sens to their rebuild status.

It’s too bad the timing was t there to start this current season with a coach with more head coaching strategies as it’s been self evident this is a fun and talented team that needed a more sound structure.

    Thank you, Coach Smith!

Onward, Sens! Now is the time! 🏒🥅🛣️💥✅

  13. Ottawa should have made the change a week ago. Berube or coach Q should be the front runners (providing he’s eligible to come back)

  14. Is it too late this year…. Yes it is, they would have to crush the rest of the entire year to even have a chance at making the playoffs.

Do I like the firing of DJ smith… Yes, he's a good coach but it was time for him to go.
Do I like the hiring of Martin and Alfie… No, I don't.

Martin was a good head coach but realistically, he never won with decades of chances and some of the Best Sens teams we've ever had. I like him with the team, I think a role in management or maybe a assistant coach could be a good idea, but I don't want him as the full time head coach.

Alfie was a good player, but same issue, he's not a winner. He's never won anything, he didn't win here in Ottawa or with the Wings. Plus there's the fact that he gave up on this team in the playoffs when he played here, he screwed over the team by signing with the Wings and he's already left the organization when he was in management. Why the Sens feel the need to keep bringing him back, I'll never understand. It's like an abusive relationship that they will never let go of.

The Sens have a very solid line up, they need players to stay healthy and we need a new coach. But for goodness sake bring in someone who knows how to win.

  15. Staios took inspiration from seeing Smith alongside Martin on the top 3 winningest Sens coaches list since 92.

In all seriousness, this should've happen a year or two ago.
