It’s no surprise Benny is a magician, but what he did with Quick in such a short amount of time deserved a deeper dive. A lot changed in Quick’s game, and he’s more than just a viable backup now.

I really hope the devils trade for a goalie this year cause no way the rangers will be able to afford him next year (if he decided to keep playing i guess) and that would be an amazing fit for him. That would make them lethal if they on top of that improved their defense (like by actually playing it for once) even a little bit.

    Edit:

Not that they trade for quick, they trade for someone else so they cant just sign him later. He’s better than both vanicek and schmid so he would be an upgrade for just money

  3. At this rate I wonder if more veteran goalies will look to coming to NY to help revitalize or lengthen their careers.

Be a backup for a year and most of your money lost would be over shadowed by having a year under Ben.

I think Allaire’s people skills can’t be praised enough. It’s one thing to get a newish goalie to change their form/stance/approach. If someone’s new to the NHL, you can say « hey, you’re going to experience different playstyles than you’re used to, here’s how you need to adjust ». But when you’re working with a goalie that has 3 Stanley Cup wins and an Olympic medal, that’s a whole different approach. Obviously, their approach has been successful and has worked on 3 separate teams. Being able to convince someone to risk changing what has worked for them for a long time is HARD.

If theres a position for it, dude should be a Hall of Famer lol

I honestly could see Quick taking a team friendly deal to remain back here for a year or two. He’s accomplished everything one needs to in his career, this is the team he grew up rooting for, and if he resigned here, he could play in front of family and friends all the time.

We don’t pay him enough. I’d put him at 2m season.
