This was a game that Mavs choke away last season. Obviously the roster is improved but there’s way more resolve amongst this team.

I feel like Lively was the difference in this game. With Nurkic out the Suns had no answer for him at all. And I love that Lively is even starting to work in some post moves. He's gonna be a low post threat by the end of this season.
The only thing I hope the Mavs can do better with that short roll off the double-team is the wing guys being able to feed Lively in the post. Looked like Lively had good position but Luka decided to move the ball around the outside…but the guys on the wing weren't looking to feed Lively.

Right now, with Kyrie on the bench, D Live is the second best player on the team. He brings so much. His presence alone changes shots from the other team. Points and rebounds will increase as he settles in. This kid is legit!

You have to wonder what the guy has to do next to get some MVP attention? The last I looked they (the NBA) have him tracking 6th in the voting. It's almost like they are determined that he doesn't win it. But you can't name one player that is having a better year than him, maybe Embiid if you weight Free throws heavily, easily, a 3rd of his points come from suspect fouls.

The things that don't show up in the stats is Luka's clutch gene. How he consistently shows up in the biggest moments is something that makes him more valuable than other players. It's like you knew he was going to go insane because it was on national TV against the Suns on Christmas day. Amazing

Go Mavs, great win, Luka unbelievable Christmas day game. So many different defenses thrown at him, no answer. Could have easily had another 5 assist if just half the wide open 3's had been hit, plus so many point blank in the paint wide open and players simply won't take the shot or can't catch the pass. Even THJ had a wide open 3 and passed, yet jack's up.and forces 3 when there is simply no shot there. How good could this team be with OG & Capala. Start Luka, Irving, Jones, OG & Liv. Second unit Exum, Hardy, THJ, Williams & Capala. Go get em, trade Green, Williams, Curry, Maxi, Holmes, Powell. Keep Omax & Lawson they are 2 or 3 years away. Irving & Jones will be pass thier window. Win now and build a great core of young players. Win it all 3 of the next 7 years possible with a couple of smart trades. Don't waste the next 3 years with Luka and Irving possibilities. Get healthy and a couple of trades. What a game.

WOULD BE OUR BENCH!!! That is one great bench, perhaps the best bench in the West, or perhaps the entire NBA. If we can go into the playoffs TRULY FRESH, with Luka and Kyrie getting a lot of time off to heal from a grueling season, this team could do serious damage. I just want us to secure a top six spot by game 75-76-77 so we can give those guys a solid 7-14 days off. This team when healthy is still better than Minnesota or OKC……but we will see. The bench might out score the starters (minus Luka lol) some nights.

They wanted him to be the defensive leader like they wanted javale to be the defensive leader, it didn’t work that way. Lively took that role and ran with it. When lively doesn’t play the defense falls apart so it makes sense why they sub lively for Grant, because they want Grant fill that role and you can only do it at the 5 with this defense. This defense is completely reliant on the center spot and that’s why we’ve succed and years past .The only way grant can truly be a anchor in this defense in the Dwight spot, tho I don’t know how long that will last
