  1. When did Auston Matthews ever chase history? 500 goals before thirty? Gretzky and Bossy already did this. So it's not history. Matthews is never going to win a cup in Toronto.
That trade is a joke. Only would happen if the Flames are Out of the playoffs. Lindholm would be the second line center in Toronto. Makes sense if you are moving on from Tavares.
Throw in Knies and you've got a chance, maybe.

They are not all locked up.
Nylander, Bertuzzi, Domi, Brodie, Jones and Samsonov are all UFA's
Tavares contract comes off in two years.
What big fish defensemen are you trading for and what salary are you moving ?

  2. Too steep a price, besides, you can’t trade your way to a cup. The Leafs have to develop their own D core. Rentals and free agent signings are great but it’s organizational depth that wins

  3. Dumb trade idea…..next. More or less equal roster players that cost more money, and hey I’ll give u 2 1st round picks for your troubles….c’mon

  4. There's often talk of a trade between the Leafs and another NHL team possibly in the works, and then nothing follows. Maybe this week will bring something different but at this point pretty much anything goes.

  5. This is only even remotely possible if they can sign/trade both of them. I'd find an alternative to trading Jarnkrok too. I'm not sure they'd want him, because he was already there and didn't produce much for them.

  6. If TML does this I will never watch TML ever again.
I like both players but wow Brodie and Tanev are similar so you are paying everything else for Lindholm?

  7. Not a chance…. leafs would be giving up way to much in this deal…. Add the goalie send them Samsonov and starts to look better but still steep.

  8. If Tanev is extended and one of those 1sts is replaced with Nick Robertson then I would do that. OR… we really should go for Vladar too. Maybe leave the trade the same but ask for Vladar and give them Sammy.

  9. IF the LEAFS going to make a BIG SPLASH it has to be YOUNG D 25 – 28 years old NO OLD DOGS after 30 YEARS OLD … 1 THAT IS 1ST OR 2ND LINE PAIRING D

  10. As long as Jarnkrok not ine deal< i'm good with it. If you give him up, you don't really move ahead in terms of strength of personnel. So you end up giving up two 1st round picks to stay the same.
All in for a Cup, Toronto is not the best team in the eastern conference and this trade doesn't move that needle at all.

  11. Not sure how many times this needs to be said but… The Leafs are NOT giving up top prospects and/or 1st rd picks for aging UFA's. If the leafs know they can sign Tanev they can wait it out .Also he's around the same age as Brodie with an injury history. Lindholm is a good player but not worth the assets to get him. If the leafs are to give up two 1st and a top D man prospect its going to be for a top pairing Dman. Leafs need to start rebuilding their prospect pool. Dealing niemala means leafs only have two high level prospects in the system and they're both playing on the Canadian Jr team. So no this rumor and any concerning aging UFA's is just hot air

  12. Also anyone remember the muskoka 5 . that's right all our top players had NTC or NMC . and when they all walked for nothing ( lookin at you Sundin)it set this team back over a decade just to make the playoffs. Leafs keep throwing away assets for rentals, it could be even longer next time around.
