@Sabres de Buffalo

    The only thing that they are kinda okay at is 5v5 scoring. Everything else is bad to atrocious. Their performance thus far has me questioning the core’s long term viability. I’m not fully on the fire Granato train just yet, however I can’t make a very convincing argument to keep him. An ultimate train wreck of a season. Couldn’t have scripted it to be any worse.

    I just want to be excited about Buffalo hockey again, man.

    Well I guess we’re back here again. Rip 22-23 was our window, should’ve done something then to make the playoffs.

    I like Granato but even if you don’t think it’s his « fault », fixing it is his responsibility as head coach and he has not fixed it. At this point I think the season is a lost cause, and I’m doubtful that a coaching change saves it, so I’m fine with giving him the rest of the season to make the case for why he shouldn’t be fired. At this point though it’s been such a debacle that saving his job in my eyes should be basically turning this squad into something moderately dominant, not just competent. Had competent last year, pissed it away, you don’t save your job by just getting back to that. Would take a miracle I think.

    I think you start with the assistant coaches considering the PK and PP are orders of magnitude worse than 5v5 which, at least to some extent, can be blamed on poor roster management by the GM.

    Here’s how to fix this team, send levi to Rochester, get the predators to give up saros. Fire Ellis and hire a real power play coach. Success depends on solid goaltending and a decent power play. Unfortunately the seasons probably already lost because of gross incompetence and inaction. It’d be nice to get a new owner too but that’s not going to happen.

    Seems unfair that the coach should be responsible. There’s got to be a junior assistant intern scout we can blame all this on.

    We should just replace Derick and give Granato another year or two to fix Derick’s bad vibes.

    Pissing away seasons like they’re nothing is what we do, but the fact that we’re doing it to the detriment of our prospects so that the cycle can continue years into the future is what makes this organization so special.

    Granato has been unable install a defensive mentality to the team. They cannot defend 5v5 and the PK during his tenure outside of a short amount of time this year has been atrocious. He was good for what he was – getting players to play for the club and develop young players. Now it’s time for the next guy. He never benched anyone and I think we need a coach who at least brings a fear factor with him (not Babcock, kidding).
