What a sad excuse of a performance to kick off 2024. Created absolutely nothing all game, imagine getting shut out by Martin Jones.

This team needs to get their shit together fast, or Edmonton will be passing us in the standings very soon. Are they a serious team or are they preparing for golf again mid-April?

I wasn’t expecting much going into tonight given the team’s struggles as of late, but this was a genuinely appalling performance in a “should win” game. Absolutely inexcusable. Even casually watching a stream of this was a horrible waste of an evening. I cannot imagine having paid good money to see this disaster in person. Shut out by the fuckin Leafs and Martin Jones, jfc

    Figure it out Todd.

The flattest, most lifeless effort of the season to start the new year. First time being shut out too (of course it’s Martin Jones), not exactly what I wanted to see tonight. Just frustrating as hell that they can’t get shit going at home. Guess we’re still in mid-season slump mode…

Going to be hilarious when we open the playoffs in Edmonton again

  6. ZiggyPalffyLA

This was a totally different team than the one that beat Toronto earlier this season. What the hell happened?

  7. sashachenko

Hope we go on a skid to force Rob’s hand into making a coaching change. We are doomed to another first round exit with Todd. Waste of a season

  8. SkateHuntFourtyTwo

Maybe Talbot was the only one that showed up to play tonight. F’n embarrassing

  9. MumkeMode

This is a completely unrecognizable team from just a month ago. What the hell happened

At this rate Edmonton going to take that P3 spot. Pathetic effort in the past month compared to what this team can do and have shown earlier this year

That game seemed like all the guys were playing with someone else’s stick. Just discombobulated all night.

Teams are doing a good job of clogging us up at the blue line. We have to work that out.

Honestly the past few games have just felt like the same story different day. We start fine, with no exceptional playes, have multiple turnovers, then put all our power into the last 10 minutes. It’s becoming boring and frustrating since I have fell like it’s the slave every game, would like to see some change either that means switching the lines up or moving some players from regin up, but we can’t keep playing like this and expecting to one game magically get better.

The wheels have officially fallen off the train.

PL Dufraud sucked again. Danault looked like a third liner again when it’s crunch time.

This is not the same kings team as before. No urgency, no fight. Losing puck battles, not connecting passes, giving away pucks in the zone, and just not shooting the puck. They aren’t gonna win many games playing this way.

Rough game from Roy-gavrikov, not seeing what laferriere has been bringing to the table, just not seeing much in general.

For whatever reason the past few years these teams trade bad losses at home with eachother.

That said, this was by far the worst game of the year for me. Kings played like absolute shit and had no puck luck to go with it. The most frustrating thing is that Toronto was not impressive tonight. Their first two goals came directly off bad offensive zone turnovers and they were not connected like they are when they are playing well. They did do a good job of blocking shots and disrupting the Kings breakout, I will say that.

That was a bad game of hockey and I feel badly for any fans that paid money for that. Team needs to work out of this, because they have not played well for a good stretch here. GKG.

There are a LOT of games to play this month. There isn’t going to time to rest and reset. Hopefully that ends up being a good thing somehow but I really do not like what I’m seeing. The offense is straight up invisible.

It’s literally gotten to the point that I think Dubois and his line are probably the most noticeable and that line is basically just Dubois and Laf with [insert-forward-here]. If they had an actual permanent winger with talent (RV) then maybe the line could really get going. Kopitar’s line is silent and the Danault line has been very quiet for awhile now. Powerplay is absolutely horrible, like it was 2 seasons ago.

At least Cam is still playing well

    We’re regressing to the ‘mean.’

And that ‘mean’ is a club finishing worse than where they ended the season the last two campaigns.

  19. probablysmellsmydog

Like him or not PK was spot on with his assessment of the Kings pregame and the Kings just proved him right

  20. ZiggyPalffyLA

I’m really curious about Jesse’s thoughts on the game. Obviously he can’t be too negative, I think he’ll call this one a laugher and say we should just forget and move on.

  21. greygh0st44

We are our own worst enemy yet again. Individual poor decisions leading to turnovers and bad penalties have really become a recurring problem. Todd best be kicking some trashcans in there!

Was it me or was the camera work really wonky tonight? I couldn’t get my hockey boner going. Perhaps it was just the Wild Turkey.
    Back to Days Gone!

  23. Expendable_0

    The positives:
    * This was the first National announcer I really liked
    * I caught up on some sleep
    * So did the Kings

  24. Elucidator

This feels worse than the Oilers loss and that’s saying something because losing to them is disgusting. This was a sad, sorry night of loser hockey the likes of which we have not seen this season. I hope the boys are getting a come to Jesus talking to or they call up some Reign players- anything to right the ship.

  25. SeoulofSoraka

It’s like the team has had a Space Jam monstar swap ever since the Isles game

  26. Cagekicker52

The only positive here is the team collectively embarrassed the fuck out of themselves. Good. There’s a tough road trip coming up those games are going to need to be wins. I hope theyre furious with the results tonight.

Couple thoughts I had. Why am I still watching JAD play for the Kings? Why am I not watching B Clarke in the place of Roy who has become a pylon the likes of dion phaneuf when he was a King? Roy can’t even come close to hitting the net and yet he’s out there taking one timers. You wanna know what helps the offense when the forwards aren’t scoring? A dman who can activate and get involved effectively on offense. doughty has essentially abandoned playing any offense aside from his 73 mph knuckle puck one timer he throws every once in a while. Having Walmart versions of two way defenders isn’t gonna do it.

  27. No_Huckleberry_7410

As someone who was at the game, one thing I noticed was how sloppy the passing was. I know it’s hard to get a solid pass through 5 guys, but at some point, the fancy pass attempts needed to stop and the guys needed to simplify it.

Another thing were the dump-ins. There’s a difference between dumping the puck deep and having a speedy guy there to get it, but it just felt like they were handing the puck right to the Leafs.

Finally, the scoreboard had a shot tracker for both teams – why was Matt Roy shorting more than our forwards? For the first time in awhile, I was kinda annoyed with Kopitar. He had some chances, but chose to attempt risky passes.

Talbot looked solid, I finally got to see the energizer bunny in Lizzote in person, but not a great game overall
