I like Georgie and I love this team, but nothing is above criticism.

The Avs are one of the strongest cup contenders in the league right now, they also have lost to bottom feeding teams in spectacular fashion. Both can be true.

Our team-wide defense needs to be better, and Georgie needs to bail us out once in awhile (like he did in the STL game).

    Both can be true.

Some of the wins are despite of Georgiev, some of the wins are because of Georgiev.

Idk why they don’t trust Provie more. While Georgie has been doing good, and we certainly have been leaving him out to dry some games, he’s not immune to criticism and has had some pretty bad games too. We are going to play him into the ground before the playoffs even start.

We got the W last night, but at one point they had 4 goals on 20 shots? that’s not a very good save %. When you don’t have a true goalie tandem
It stands to reason that your goalie is going to have more opportunities to make saves, and stack up those W’s as opposed to a tandem running in say Boston for example.

Currently ranked 38th in save % out of goalies who have played at least 12 games, while being #1 in wins, and games played (also first in). Idk, I feel with a little more rest and a couple less games played, maybe 25-26 instead of his 31 currently, we would see that save % increase, while still maintaining a solid win rate with him in net before we burn the poor man out before playoffs even start.

It’s like wins for a pitcher in baseball. It doesn’t tell the whole story. Georgie has been ok this year but not great.

  5. I 100% Georgie will figure it out, but he has not been good enough so far this season and wins isn’t going to reflect that fact. If he was on the level he was last year the Avs would probably have 5 more wins. He’s going to turn it around though, I’m sure.

Plot twist, Georgiev also runs the YouTube channel pro-bono so they can’t get rid of him regardless of how he plays or they’d have to hire someone else!

WINS ARENT A GOOD INDICATOR OF HOW GOOD A GOALIE IS

Could we just stop to be so emotianally about the Georgie topic? Sure, he is playing shit lately and doesn’t have any groove but this is sports and you will have some dips like this in your career. In Germany we use to say something like « comes times, come wheel ». So, if Georgie keeps working on his goaltending and if the D steps up and delivers more support and if the fanbase sends some positive vibes, then I am absolute positive that he will not be the roadblock for winning the cup

Indeed…however, we could have MORE wins if he wasn’t so goddamned inconsistent.

I have been defending Georgiev quite a bit. But at a certain point, watching other goalies make ridiculous saves night in and night out while Georgiev struggles saving over 90% says there are some issues there.

I was watching nhl network last night and a guy on their predicted a super high score on both sides because he thinks both teams have goalie issues. So even some more experienced eyes that randos in the forums seem to think Georgiev needs to figure some stuff out.

It’s beyond sad to waste the core we have with a bad goaltender. Can they do something before the trade deadline?

Why doesn’t anyone mention that there has been multiple issues with the defensive line? No goalie can save every shot. And when the defensive line isn’t doing a good job of preventing shots on goal, it’s going to happen more.

Regardless, the injured players are healing and returning. So I’m confident much of the issues will resolve themselves. And we’re still number one in the division. I don’t understand what the big fuss is about.

people need to stop using wins as a positional stat. It’s ridiculous.

He’s also a rookie right? I feel like he’s still finding his stride. When his stride is good he’s amazing.

I agree we need prosvetov to play more, Georgie is out there playing nearly all the games
