  1. Leafs are a
    .500 team 😂
    Win 1 lose 1
    Ducks win tonight
    Toronto will lose the next
    2 games
    No playoffs this year
    No heart
    No defence
    Same old Leafs
    😂

  2. I totally didn't giggle when Steve was talking about sticking fingers in butt-ends of things.

  3. My 4 year old went to her first game on NYE, she chanted "Let's go K Wings" for the entirety of the game, only taking breaks for popcorn and sprite

  4. Idk what it is about Jones but he has a calming effect on teams that he plays for for some weird reason, I saw it last year in Seattle, his save% was bad but the team played well in front of him. Hell even in Philly this was the case. Also he stays in his net lmao which I like.

  5. Who was in goal that got the shutout??? It all starts with the goalie!!! Less pressure on the defense if they know there can allow a shot on goal and the goalie will stop it. Less pressure on the offence if they know they can score a couple of goals and win the game. It all starts with the GOALIE.

  6. To answer your question "How?" (To Sign Willy): don't spend 4M$ on Klingberg. That is almost all of the difference.

  7. I don’t understand why you still think Bert was laughing at the team versus Boston. You ask it once a week, what is this joke of a league? He’s laughing at this laughing stock league. Another example of our fine league… $4.4K fine for a event though the intent to injure is caught on evidence (too bad it can’t be used 😬)

  8. That was the best complete game from the Leafs I may have seen in years.
They actually played like a team!

  9. I knew it! I KNEW IT! Martin Jones against the Kings is such a cheatmode. Okay, there was that one game where he let 8 goals in… but his team still beat them! It's delightful seeing Steve be so perplexed by Martin Jones having good games, it truly is. I knew we were never going to keep him with the Kraken once Driedger was healthy again, and when I heard the Leafs had signed him, I pictured Steve saying "So… we signed… …. … … Martin Jones… okayyyyyyy", but darn it, he did great for us just when we needed him most. Here's hoping he continues to do well for you guys when you need him!

PS: I said so on Twitter, but Leo is too adorable for words, and good call on sneaking out at 2-1. My kid was 6 when I took him to his first hockey game, and he didn't quite make it through a full period, but at least the Silvertips were ahead when we left!

  10. Didn't get to see the game but watched a couple highlights packages from this game. From what I did see Jones seemed super calm in the net.

  11. Dammit Steve. Every Jones win you've said "..he didn't really have to do much" Give the man his props. I don't get why everyone wants to diminish his wins.

  12. We all know if the leafs win vs the ducks and Hildeby plays well the LFR will be called “Feed the Hildebeast” or something like that.

  13. How? well, you suffer for only one year. AKA you run with Woll, Hildeby, or Jones at low prices. With that, increased cap, and getting Domi back for less, Bert at the same price or lower (possible given his stats and low point totals). Lose TJ Brodie and get someone else just as good since he's been regressing. It's not that hard tbh.

  14. You know what’s really cute?
During the intro, with captions on, it says, crumple crumple eat. 😃

  15. After that response to the Matthew's Hit the Leafs Played Some Of their best hockey of the season right after. Then didnt really let the Kings Do anything. Makes up for them Coming in and Beating us 4-1..

  16. Imagine getting a pay raise after years of work and having some guy on youtube saying "we don't like that". Like nah dude. Congratulations to Willy. Well deserved.

  17. They are gonna sign Nylander, then you just let 'leak' that either JT or Marmer refused a trade and the Leafs will be in cap hell and you let the 'brave loyal' Leafs fans turn on one of them and make their life both private and professional so hellish they''l ask for a trade. Easy. You guys new at this?

  18. I find JT was slow looks tired his back check is bad he needs some rest i love the guy but bert and willy look so much faster

  19. I swear, some teams just struggle when playing against teams that are way below their skill level, I’ve seen it in all kinds of sports in many different leagues. It’s quite the phenomenon. Good thing the leafs were playing a team who are above their skill level!

  20. If the Leafs can play games like this… there are no serious coaching issue with the Leafs. There are issues behind the bench.

The serious issues are shuffling on and off the ice surface. Clearly Keefe is getting performances out of some of these players who obviously have played too many games this season with loose skate laces. The Leafs played a great game. That's two and a half decent efforts in a week. A few more games like the last two, win, or lose, the obvious issues aside; this team can compete. As a result we end up with more questions and fewer immediate answers. The enigma that is the Toronto Maple Leafs this year.

As with any team; it's up to the players to decide if they "want" to perform. Or did too many of these players just expect to caboose-trail along on the Matthews-Tavares-Nylander-Marner-Knies-Kampf-Rielly gravy train? I'm starting to wonder if a few Leafs have discovered what parity really means in the NHL now. Every game is a serious game. One might think there is some breathing room in an 82 game season. There is. But it's not a three week holiday of half-ass on ice performances. A few off games is one thing. Taking two months to wake-up, gel, and compete fully, as a group is…. it's not a great look for a team of highly paid elite performance oriented professionals. The Kings and the Blues went through similar evolutionary challenges in recent memory. They both won cups.

If there were team gelling issues that are sorting themselves out now then the Leafs have the talent to succeed. Two goalies have paid the price for the Leafs half-ass team performances. That's on the players not the coaching staff. Assuming the Leafs continue to play like they did last night , 68% of the time, in a predictable pattern of clear player-buy-in. This team can compete for a cup honestly. Again that's on the players. At this point the coaching issues are between the ears on the bench for everyone. Those players with the buy-in challenges have to keep tightening their skate laces. The coaching staff has to keep tinkering with details. It's half a season to a potential lottery win for the next contracts too many of these players want to sign one, and two, years down the road. The players who perform consistently, responsibly, and passionately, will be the biggest winners. Those players will get to pick where they want to play next with long-term contracts. How rich do you want to be?

It would be nice to be able to talk that out with 20, or so, individuals who can jointly work together to win. That's a better statistical opportunity than wasting money on lottery tickets and time playing professional bingo on ice. It's team work, performance, passion, ibuprofen, orange juice, band-aids, created luck, and buy-in to win. Clearly this team has the potential and the ability to do it.

Now they just have to… Do it! That's on the Leaf players.
