@Islanders de New York

    despite all the blown leads, we’re a top team in the metro. if the team can tighten that up in the second half, the ceiling is pretty high tbh. the « FIRE LANE » stuff after a bad game seems ridiculous when you consider where the team is in the standings.

    All I know is every game Ive watched, the opposition is within 5 feet of our goal 90% of the game. And every game Ive watched the opposition has at least doubled up on shots on goal to ours. Piss poor puck possession and really poor defense more often than not…. Sorokin is the absolute LAST person to blame for anything.

    Mayfield coming back and Bo going cold seems to coincide with our little slide here.

    I think i saw in the last game a graphic that said we give up the most high danger chances in the NHL. We are doing this and we are in the playoff mix ONLY because of an unbelievable goalie situation. Other goalies would give up 10 in these (many) games where Ilya gives up 4-5. Aside from the high danger chances, they are also facing an unbelievable amount of shots per game. It’s unsustainable and we need to take pressure off these goalies.

    The absolute only chance this team had to make some noise year to year was if sorokin was consistently special and hes just not so this team will continue to be in purgatory period end of story.

    We look like one of the best teams in the NHL one night and one of the worst other nights. Although I don’t think we look like the best that often lol. Yet we are doing pretty well standings wise. So we’re mediocre

    D needs to get healthy and then we can see how the team looks. Hopefully the injury issues will cease and we can see who this team really is. Adding Reilly has been a plus, and I think he likely has earned a spot in the lineup once Pulock and Pelech are back. Just hope its not all too late.

    I look at it a little more simply than that. We can’t hold leads we have in the third period, and we can’t kill penalties. The high danger chances against don’t just start happening after we get a lead in the third. The pk is dead last in the NHL. If we were decent both of those things, We’re fighting it out with the Bruins and Rangers for the top seed in the Eastern Confrence. Well clear of the rest of the pack. We would all be talking about who to go after at the trade deadnine, and wondering if this is the year we get to the Stanley Cup finals. Of course like five people would post about the advanced stats and how they suck, but most of us I don’t think would care.
