@Flames de Calgary

Tij Iginla

Me, personally, would be very upset if the organization has a chance to draft and doesn’t, as long as it wouldn’t be a reach to pick him where we pick him.

  2. GarrettDz

He’s looking to go mid first round so right where we will end up picking lmao

If Iginla is in the name, they should wear the flame.

  4. I actually played against him in a u15 tournament once, he is a pretty good player with an absolute rocket

If he’s the best player available when you go to pick. Take him. If it doesn’t end up happening then it doesn’t happen. Can’t go into the draft saying we are taking Tij Iginla no matter what. Even Jarome knows that. He’s a good prospect though.

You acquire 2 more first round picks in the draft though then you’ve got a real shot.

Andrew Basha is another local Calgary kid and is an unreal young talent.

Would love it, but probably not with our round 1 pick. I’m not sure the pressure our fanbase would have is what is best for him. If low first through trade or our 2nd, let’s do it

Really torn on this. On one hand we would all love it. But could you imagine the pressure on the kid? I feel like it would be tough for anyone to succeed in that environment.

He’s been on fire in Kelowna and most draft projections have him going on the top half of the first. I assume he cracks the top 10 and if we have to package picks to get him go for it.

I, like everyone here, haven’t watched any of these prospects more than a handful of times but if we have a chance for a second generation of Iginla I’m all for it. Worst fear is he goes somewhere like Toronto, Vancouver or Edmonton on and lights it up.

Would he want to play in Calgary, with all the expectations that would come with it? Maybe he’d rather not play in his father’s shadow

As long as they don’t use a top 10 pick to select him I’ll be mad if they have an opportunity and don’t take him

  12. Chemical_Signal2753

Right now the Flames look to be drafting around 9th overall. I wouldn’t take him at that spot but would accept us trading down to 13th to #16th to get him. Alternatively, if we get additional draft picks from trades I think it would be fine to take him using those picks, or trade up to get him.

While I have no data to confirm it, I generally think kids of NHL players seem to outperform their draft position. I don’t think it is magical either, they just have a better idea of what it will take to be successful at a young age.

The Flames aren’t in a position to make a nostalgic pick…they need to take the best player available.

If that happens to be Tij, then fine, but they can’t let warm fuzzies get in the way of a hockey decision.

  14. SomeJerkOddball

Organized protests if we don’t draft the Iginla boys. At appropriate spots in the draft mind you. But goddamn it, if they bust it may as well be our system they bust in because the upside of having Iginla on the back of a jersey again is too much to contemplate.

I don’t care if he caps out at a 4th line grinder. Make it happen.

  15. Crafty-Opportunity-4

Just draft the best available player.

  16. SirLunatik

Funny enough if Tij keep rising up the rankings, there are 2 kids of former Flames that we could select, as Byron RItchie’s son is slated to go in the 8-12 range currently.

  17. PAguy213

Throw a 2nd rounder at the kid, sell some jerseys and hope he turns out good.

Y’all need some good mojo and I think the Iginla name is exactly the source.

  18. YEGuySmiley

If you guys don’t draft him, I hope the Oilers do.

  19. isaacbrovald

Unless we are picking top 8 we should definitely take him

  20. Educational_Beat6799

Where can I find this ranking list?
