Landy!!!!!
OH CAPTAIN MY CAPTAIN!!!
Good to see Landy back on the ice. I would agree with Kyle in that he has likely been doing some skating the last month or so since he got back to Denver out of the public eye. He mentioned in an interview that since this particular issue started when he got cut by Makar's skate in the bubble playoffs, and over the next two years he developed a lot of bad habits in order to try and compensate for it which eventually led to other injuries and now this. This stage of his rehab is going to be all about learning how to skate with proper technique and using the appropriate muscles in the appropriate way while skating to prevent future injury. I bet what we saw today was probably stage 2 or 3 of that process where they finally let him touch a puck for a little bit. On a side note, sending him to Loveland would be an option once he's cleared to play, they could send him down for 5 games (I think) as a conditioning assignment without having to clear waivers.
We have to lift Landy up since he lifted us and the cup.
What! Skating? …..I just broke into song!
“The hills are alive with the sound of music!”
3 octaves higher than usual!
Time to fly back to the moon 😂
i was literally day dreaming after the game of him skating doing very slow movements and stuff crazy
as long as they get points in all 5 games ill be happy ,cant loose and not get points against the east just free points there
I expected this actually because it’s necessary IF he has any chance to come back for the playoffs and I think both himself and the organization were expecting him to have a legit shot to return. Aside from Macfarland mentioning it prior to training camp, both Gabe and Bednar’s comments during the training camp pressers suggested it and it’s why they didn’t name a temp C for the year.
so im in a Town just outside Toronto and my dad and my brother are diehard Leafs fans🤦♂️ the msges from them are too funny lol …… im calling
AVS-4
Leafs-2 they both said Leafs 4 Avs 3 . Should be good either way !
When I heard that he was skating, I can not begin to describe the joy that I felt. I was like an 8-year-old on Christmas morning. With Landy and Leki back , we don't have a second-line problem. Can you imagine the fan reaction when he takes the ice in the playoffs? Pure insanity
Was a great game, particularly for gorgiev. Hoping he can build on this and start to show more of what we saw early this year
He also skated for 3 months last year and nothing happened. He didn’t progress and then ended up having another surgery.
He has been training a lot and has moved his family back to Denver, which is promising. However its the NHL playoffs, the most physical game of hockey on earth; that's a rough start to come back to without playing one game or warm up games in the regular season. I think him coming back in full form is a 30% chance, its hard facts that his career will never be the same. His career is going to come to a quiet close, just like Forsberg's.
Any word on Bo Byram??
Oh Captain, my Captain!
I've had a very major knee injury, so I feel exactly what Landy is going thru. Stepping back, if he activates for the playoffs, that's just about TWO years of rehab w TWO major surgeries. 3-4 months of skating won't bring back the loss of strength/stability from that much atrophy. And he'll have debilitating flare-ups. If he activates, I'd expect limited minutes and lots of help (brace, drainage, painkillers, etc). If he also tries to continue a career, I just can't see a full 82 game player going forward. Avs fans need to temper expectations. Best case he's a 3rd liner/PP specialist this post season and then we'll re-evaluate.
What seems interesting is how much the AVs social media team have promoted and posted this everywhere about Gabe. Almost like a level of confidence as to how he felt after.
I can’t imagine if he went on the ice and had issues etc that they still would’ve done those posts
Also agree he’s probably been skating privately and this is almost like the PR skate for everyone to see
Got chocked up when I read the thumbnail.
"a guy blows a tire & takes Landy out they'd be on the 1st plane out…" Yep & they wouldn't even land, said plane, it'd just be, "END OF THE LINE BUD!"
A movie scenario (Willis Reed Part II)- Landy comes back for the Stanley Cup Finals. He plays like a hall of famer. He drags the team to a championship, and skates into the sunset, only to become the next GM in 5 years.
