   They do have the ability to come down, I believe they were down for the Hossa retirement ceremony, iirc.

   I asked one of the Blackhawks sales reps one time and he said there’s a minimum distance that the scoreboard has to be from the ice, per NHL regulations, and the boards dropping would interfere with that required distance.
