Yes, refs were dogshit, but that was pisspoor effort. Star players invisible all night (especially JT) and defence shit the bed…

  2. versus07

I was watching the 1st and when the leafs went up 3-0, I turned the game off and said to myself, I’ll come back in the 3rd when it’s 3-3 to watch them lose in the last few minutes,

    Leafs didn’t disappoint

  3. frmacleod

And the pendulum swings back to me thinking this is a mediocre team. Stay tuned for next week’s gut feeling.

  4. crushade

Near zero percent chance we lose that game if the game is called properly. Two of Colorado’s goals happened when we should have been on the power play.

It’s frustrating. The other teams really know how to play disciplined when they play us eh?

  5. senile-animal

Jobbed but the leafs can’t just be giving up 4 unanswered goals. That’s bad

  6. hymensmasher99

    What a fucking joke
40 million dollars in forwards and they were invisible tonight.
Our defense is fucking terrible man. Treliving gotta do something because if we make the playoffs with this d corps, we are fucking screwed

  7. TheLoomingMoon

Sometimes you’re the bug, sometimes you’re the windshield.

  8. Accountability applies to everyone except Marner and Brodie. Same story every game, so tiring.

  9. The-Only-Razor

Not a single timeout called at any point by Keefe. Not after the 2nd goal when things were getting out of hand. Not when they tied it. Not when they got ahead. Nothing. Just fucking sat there, benched the 2nd line, and figured that was enough to justify his undeserved contract extension (that kicks in next year btw).

Refs were shit. Top players were shit. Keefe simply took the night off. What a miserable game. I’m tired of blowing leads.

  10. StrygwyrSuperstar

I’ve never seen a coach throw in the towel with 4 mins left in a 1 goal game. why is Keefe still employed lmao

  11. WintersbaneGDX

I will start a GoFundMe to pay the fine for Keefe. Light those refs up. Set this goddamn league on fire.

  12. FixYourBentAntenna

Doesn’t feel like we lost to the avs as much as it feels like we lost to the refs

  13. Aidsinuranus

Emblematic of the past 7 seasons and likely the next 7 seasons when we overpay Marner.

  14. spite_as_an_arrow

I know they’re stars and it shouldn’t matter but it’s probably hard to perform when the opposition will never get penalized against you

  15. We got absolutely screwed by the refs. But at the end of the day, their star players are just simply better. Matthews was absolutely shut down by Makar. Marner has got to be the most overpaid player in the NHL. He is not strong enough, nor fast enough to create open space for himself when teams play him tight. We’ll never win anything with this core. Rinse repeat.

  16. billybobsingh

I see a lot of people going off on the team but I think they did alright considering the refs were not calling shit. Not much you can do against cheaters. 4 less shots with 3 less pps? Sounds like a good effort to me

  17. DaltonFitz

Mitch Marner is going to ask for a raise lmao

  18. CasualtyEH

That did not seem like a fairly played game in my honest opinion. 2nd game in a row as well.

  19. toronto_programmer

Play well enough to get a lead and then look disinterested and take the rest of the night off

This team does not have that killer attitude to play a full 60 minute game, they are all just looking to play “good enough” for the night and then coast

This attitude is exactly why we can’t win in the playoffs

  20. Any other team in the league only get 1 PP in back to back games?

  21. 1337duck

I’m pissed the refs called the penalties so 1-sidedly. Avs are a good team, and adding the 1-sided reffing makes it super fucking lobsided. You can tell Leafs were afraid to go hard for any pucks after that 4th penalty in the 3rd.

On the other hand, why the hell was Keefe running 2 lines when we were tied 3-3?

  22. Bah, leafs are what they are, but games like this really have me questioning why I watch this league. Already I can see this is what the playoffs are going to be like again. Who the fuck needs the frustration of seeing which way the refs will blow on any given night?

  23. gerryhallcomedy

That was unfair of Colorado to keep playing after the 1st period. Leafs didn’t.

  24. CamThompson

The Leafs didn’t play great by any means, and especially Tavares and Marner never looked dangerous enough. I don’t know that we ever deserved to win, but that was some spectacularly poor officiating. Even if you ignore the egregious non-calls on Matthews and Liljegren, Colorado gets away with a good amount of holding and obstruction in the d-zone. I think it’s reputation – you’re viewed as a good defensive team, you get away with more “defense”.

Some silver linings though, Holmberg really looks excellent and Liljegren is rounding into a good top 4 defenseman. Rielly scored a nice goal as well. Jones wasn’t bad at all, but the last couple games are more in line with recent Martin Jones rather the world beater we’ve had the past few weeks.

  25. Incredibly infuriating.

Where is any contribution from Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Tavares..???

I hope this comes as a reality check. We had an easy stretch on the road, took the foot off the gas, too little too late, the stars did not play up to snuff today.

Might be the most frustrating loss of the season.

I couldn’t fucking care less if we trounce the Red Wings.

As long as we get clowned by quality teams we’ll never succeed in the playoffs.

  26. Ristifer

The refs sucked ass, but so did the Leafs. They weren’t even close to threatening in the Avs’ zone in the third.

  27. Leafs_99

Insane move by Keefe to run Marner, Matthews, and Nylander into the ground in a tie game. Absolutely no reason to shorten the bench to essentially two lines at that point in the game, just bizarre.

  28. re-verse

What a garbage game full of the same behavior we are so used to.

  29. JamesCurtis24

Back to my natural state, absolutely hating this hockey team

  30. No gusto with this team — irrespective of the atrocious ref job. Don’t see how front office can trick themselves into thinking this team will make any noise in the playoffs; need some changes now if they’re serious. No way we can go on a cup run with this group of pretenders

  31. apatheticboy

JT and Knies getting benched was interesting.

Domi, Jarny, and Homberg were awesome tonight.

Our D got outplayed and the team just couldn’t take care of the puck, some shit passes. Most of their goals were garbage and the refs fucked us good.

  32. Aidsinuranus

Gio needs a vacation to Robidas Island. He can take Brodie with him.

  33. Turning point was when they didn’t call that cross check on Matthews. You could see the NHL game management in all its retarded glory

  34. Man I love how we always play against the cleanest fucking teams in the league, it’s so weird.

  35. Wanderson90

Oilers with a powerplay in the final 2 minutes vs the habs, and then another PP in OT..

Can u fucking imagine living in the lap of luxury.

  36. CanadianMortgagesPro

Keefe playing the 4th line with 2 minutes to ago. This guy does this shit out of spite instead of thinking with his head.

Really think we need a coaching change to shake things up. Wouldn’t mind Guy Boucher taking over for rest of the reason. Keefe had his chance and he gotta go.

  37. Admirable-Panda-4632

Can’t dump Keefe right now, so got to try something Jim. Get Perry signed. Wtf, why not.

  38. Carparker19

At least Keefe benched Tavares a bunch in the 3rd. He’s been fucking terrible since his 1000th point.

  39. thevoiceinsidemyhead

the reffing was garbage..but guess what..that’s what we have to look forward to in the playoffs so get used to it. If you’re expecting anything better in a series against Boston or Florida i don’t know what to tell you….and not to sound overly dramatic or cliche ..but this team ..as skilled as it is (and it is skilled) suffers from an almost complete lack of heart…and until they find that they’re not going anywhere.
