   This needs to be a statement game. They need to come out and control the pace of this game from puckdrop. They need to dominate today, show the rest of the league the slumps over and gaining ground wont be that easy anymore.

   I dont mind losing games. Lose games now and learn from them rather than lose games in the first round and watch from the green. Its the fashion in which weve been losing these games that bothers me.

   There never seems to be a full 60 minutes of effort. Cant win a cup if you’re only playing about half a game every night.

   First sign of adversity if this team wants to prove they are different then last year today is the first chance to prove .Every contender goes on losing streaks the true contenders are the ones that stop the bleeding .If they are the team they were up until the Carolina game they will come out and light the caps on fire if they lose today this team is in big trouble plain and simple

    Dare I say that this is a “must win”? Lead in the metro is basically nonexistent. Need to pick up a full two points today.

    I can handle having trouble with scoring depth when Kakko and Chytil are out long term. Missing 1/3 of your opening night top 6 is tough. With Mika under the weather, there’s not a lot of fire power.

    I’m a big Laf fan, and I think he’s probably playing the best hockey of his career, but at a certain point you’ve got to get the puck in the back of the net. Scorers are streaky, and the chances he’s getting are encouraging, but a few goals from him over this past stretch probably gets us a win or two. I don’t know if he’s gripping the stick too hard or if he has to work on his shot release, but he’s progressed to the point of getting more and better chances than he ever has. The next step is to work on finishing, because if he can continue generating chances the way he has, 30-40 goals isn’t out of the question for his future.

    Half of our forwards are trash. Lets just admit that. Pitlick, Bonino, Brodz, Goodrow, Blidh, and Wheeler are all damn near worthless. It’d be one thing if Kakko and Chytil were in and we had a 4th line of Vesey-Bonino-Goodrow, but our depth is really atrocious. It’s not like these guys are bruisers and goons who can at least fuck someone up, most of them are AHL players or just semi warm bodies.

    More concerning is the defending. We have a totally healthy D corps, and we just hemmorage high danger chances against. Even worse are the turnovers. Holy shit we are careless with the puck. This is Lavy’s first real challenge with this team: we’re frustrated and in freefall, and a team that hasn’t historically recovered well from that. Let’s see if he’s got anything.

    Seeing the losing streak the kings are on rn makes me think the league just figured out how to play against 1-3-1 with whatever flavoring was being added by us/LA since we basically play the same game.

    1 of 2 things is gonna happen with Chytil this year

    A: He returns at some point this year. This will fix our depth issue more than people realize and give us 3 lines that can actually score

    B: He won’t return this year, which would suck but gives us $4.2 million of LTIR cap space to use at the deadline to upgrade the team, and we know Drury is not scared to do exactly that
