Hey THG, I was wondering if you've ever made a video analyzing the importance of big moves at the trade deadline, how often does it contribute to a team winning a cup and how crucial were the newly acquired player(s) in the cup run? I'm on the fence about making a big trade and being a buyer at the deadline, because it can mess with team chemistry.

I really hope the canucks management doesn't make a trade if it includes any top prospects or a first rounder. The core is so young that the window is just opening. This could be 4-5 years of a solid shot at the cup. We will need those ELCs to save cash

I’m fine with 1-0 wins. I’ve seen the Canucks play exciting hockey plenty of times. Now I just want to see wins, however they get them. If they have to be New Jersey c. 1995, that’s fine with me. They got the job done today and that’s what counts. If I want to watch fun hockey, I’ll rewatch Game 1, 5 or 6 of the 1994 Finals.

As a Sharks fan, thank you to the Sens. This is exactly my ideal sort of game. Good games from some trade bait pieces, the game is interesting until the end, and the Sharks lose in regulation to avoid getting any points.
P.S. 9:03 "The Sens score to tie it. Zadina from Hertl and Ferraro makes it 4-4." I generally assume any goals scored are by the Sharks' opponent too, but that one was scored by the Sharks.

Sabres tried to match the Nucks physical play and the boys responded. Say what you will about Big Z's game but when he finishes his checks he crushes guys with his weight alone. Tough to play against. Hope it continues.
Every Canuck game I watch which is basically all of them I’m pretty much sure that Demko gets hit in the mask in pretty much all of them and when I doesn’t he uses his head to make a save. He’s just playing lights out, they needed him today for the win. Just saying I’ve never seen a goalie get hit in the head so often.

Buffalo took themselves out the game by hesitating so often on their few chances down the middle. JJ got off a quick shot near the end but fired at the wrong side. Tuch rang the post hard one time.
Both teams traded chances up close in the 1st. Miller’s gutless elbow to Dahlin’s cheek turned the 2nd into a scrum (thanks to the refs ignoring those earlier elbows)
Admirable effort against one of the top teams but not clearing UPL’s crease allowed a goal and not getting in Demko’s made his afternoon a shutout one.
Gotta wait til 4:18 until the truth is revealed.
There was a part of me that wished that the Sabres had tied it so Petey could get 5-game winning goals in a row.

I'm really glad I watched the Sabres v Canucks because "Samuelsson gets shaken up" is not even close to a useful description of what happened on that play. This is a hit that set the tone for the entire game and you just gloss right over it.

Wish I coulda watched Sharks vs Ottawa. Checked the score while it was going on and that just told me it was an interesting game
Fatigue made Vancouver look like a very mediocre team today. However the difference between this and many past years is they still managed to get the job done. I suspect Monday's game with a 10 am pacific start will be even worse. I think we'll probably win but it's going to be dicey. All in all awesome road trip.

The hit on Dahlin that got reviewed for 5 and reduced to 2 was straight up fucking bs….crazy Robinson got 5 and a game earlier in the season on a much softer hit yet Dahlin gets elbowed in the fucking head and has to leave the game only gets a 2 min minor and then they call Power for grabbing Miller after even though they both drop gloves at the same time (again) and we get 2 for roughing?? Outstanding officiating that was just glazed over 👏🏻😂

So it sounds like the Canucks did everything and the Sabres just showed up. Yeah, no mention of two head hits with no resulting power play and the effect that had on the game. The Canucks are so good at playing with a lead, but no mention of a bottom of the league team playing them to a one goal game with only 3 defensemen for several minutes of the game. C'mon, man, I know no one cares about the Buffalo Sabres, but how about some credit where credit is due. That was an outstanding defensive game played against a top team and the referees.
