  1. Doubt they win the cup. Similar team to last year and goaltending still a big question mark. But u never know.

  2. I dunno, that doesn't look like it was that difficult of a schedule, considering the better teams amongst that list haven't been good lately. Not to bring them down, but it's not a crazy 10. Now if they go 15, that'd be impressive.

  3. Edmonton defense gets maligned constantly, but for the most part it's been good this year. It had mostly been the goaltending sinking them early in the year. Now that Skinner has his confidence back and Campbell isn't sinking the team in the first 10 minutes the Oilers are back in peak form.

With Coffey, Edmonton's big three defensemen have all been great. Ekholm-Bouchard is one of the top pairings in the league, and Nurse is the guy taking all the big minutes when those two aren't on the ice.

Assuming the Oilers are still in a playoff spot come the trade deadline they'll likely be looking for a defenseman to replace Ceci, a depth forward (or Corey Perry), and to see if they can move Campbell and bring someone else in (a bit of a pipe dream)

  4. Wait and see. The Avs will be a tough team to beat not to mention Vegas, L.A. or WPG/VAN. They haven't won anything yet, I think the bottom 6 is too weak compared to the elite teams in the West.

  5. This season was eye opening as a fan, about fans and media. The vast majority of people who make comments are not full time fans of the game of hockey. There was no way in hell this team was ever going to miss the playoffs and from the fans, to casters, to the coach being fired it was all a complete and total over reaction. If we can win 10 in a row we can lose 10 in a row, but over the course of a full 82 game season that does not change the team. Tampa is still Tampa, Boston is still Boston, Avs are still Avs. Why the hell anyone thought the Oil would just magical implode is beyond me.

  6. The oilers do look different this last little while not so panicky and much more composed in all situations. They aren’t totally dominating and blowing teams out just hanging in there and playing solid hockey in most instances. Hope they continue to play well and hope Coffey is okay and gets back soon. I think Coffey has a good influence on the team. I agree with your comment about the 80’s oiler streaks. There’s no telling how many wins they might have strung together if rules and travel was the same as now. Back in the day there was no possibility to squeak out extra wins through OT and shootouts. And playing a full balanced schedule the travel would have been tougher and they would have faced top teams more often. Still it’s nice to see the oilers on this winning streak. Hope it continues for at least a few more games. Nice job breaking down this streak Shannon, I enjoyed your analysis and commentary 🙂!

  7. "Brown with 2 assists, he's not allowed to get goals this year" 😂 sneaky smooth delivery

  8. Zero more. They will not beat the Leafs on Tuesday, considering the Leafs are my favorite team and Tuesday is the day of my birthday. I believe Matthews will score at least one goal that game, while McJesus is held pointless.

  9. Being the Rollercoaster that is an Edmonton Oiler fan, I've learned to just wait and see what happens. One day the sky is falling and the next we're on top of the world there's no in between.

  10. Most of their wins are against sub par teams.ets see them play Vegas Winnipeg or Vancouver. Someone that's good will give them a good run

  11. As a fan. I’m always going to be harsh against the team but. I think defensively with adding Coffey to the coaching staff. Definitely helped with rounding out the team

  12. As a Ducks fan whose team has been out of it for nearly 300 years, it would be a crime for McDavid to not win a Cup in Edmonton.

  13. They'll win the cup because they are my most hated team in the league last year it was vegas and look what they did

  14. Knoblauch has been doing the same old crap thing that all the other coaches have done: limiting ice time for the 3rd and 4th lines!!

It's offensive that these lines should have under 10 and 5 minutes per GAME respectively!!

If knobbers could increase 4th line to 10 and 3rd line to 15 minutes per game they would get more results!!

Roll those lines man! Kemp got under 3 minutes against the Canadiens!!! Brutal!

  15. Imo, the whole thing rests on Skinner. Clearly all the forwards and defense have stepped it up…and I am confident they will be able to maintain (good systems – esp Coffey – all time favorite player btw). Skinner has also stepped it up. However, I am less confident in him being able to maintain…esp playoffs. Start letting in a bunch of softies again…and it's game over.

  16. Agree the easier schedule definitely plays a part I think. But still, it’s not easy to get a 10-game winning streak either way. Although I feel the past three games could have ended it. The big difference between Edmonton and Seattle’s win streaks are Seattle’s are all in regulation but one OT win. Edmonton had two OT wins and one SO win.

  17. Knoblauch and Coffey seem to have implemented some good habits that Tippett and Woodcroft failed to. They are a different flavour now.
