That’s a bold strategy, Cotton. Let’s see if it pays off!

Spoiler: It did, in fact, not pay off.

  2. shutmethefuckup

Oilers fan here…loved this. Great fans.

  3. Cleets11

What a great atmosphere that game was. Habs fans rocking the house like it’s a playoff game.

  4. REAPER-1_xxx

Leaf fans should boo McDavid every time he touches the puck too. I think it worked in his favour last night. Kept him on his toes.

I thought that was a great hockey game. Montreal fans are incredible. What an atmosphere!

  5. IllustriousAnt485

They were saying BOOOOUch!!! So McDavid listened to the crown and gave them what they were asking for. He served it up and the BOUCHE BOMB ends the game. Classy and intelligent Montreal fans as always!

  6. LuciusBaggins

HNIC games continue to hit different. Especially those in Ottawa, Montreal, or Toronto. Always electric crowds.

  7. Margarenalover

I was there for this game and it was such fantastic energy! To get booed in the bell centre is a sign of respect – only the best players (minus kreider) are booed

  8. CurlingTrousers

And he gets the primary assist on the winning goal.

So – who’s the loser here?

Sensationally entertaining 3rd period. By all means – boo away – it’s a badge of honor.

  9. Username247

« Leon, are they booing me? »

    « No sir, they’re saying boo-shard »

  10. KantanaBrigantei

I don’t get these posts. MTL fans don’t just boo anyone. They only boo opposing players they appreciate. They can’t cheer for McDavid. He’s on the other team. So, they boo him to let him know that he’s appreciated as an opposing player.

  11. EffectiveMuscle8088

Taunt him? No way. Crowd noise is fuel to him.

  12. InternationalBrick76

They hate McCuck. Good to see.

  13. VegitoFusion

I lived in Montreal for 10 years and by the end I couldn’t stand the team because of the fans. They literally just boo the best opposing player, even if they don’t have any bad blood between them.

  14. Philly514

That’s a sign of respect here in MTL. Every great player gets that treatment.

  15. napoleonzboub

I was at the game. Booing mcdavid was my favourite part of that night. We are just having fun. Im sure mcdavid finds it funny too

  16. SheboyganSudam

Well that’s a minute and a half I’ll never get back. Habs fans are passionate.. more at 6..

  17. capsrock02

“Taunt”. Since when is booing taunting?

  18. oooooeeeeeoooooahah

As a Toronto fan i cant stand montreal fans 😛 But i admire their stadiums atmosphere and their ability to chirp lol

MLSE could take a lesson from the vibes of the Bell Centre and stop packing their arena with suits and « status » fans…. Last leaf home game I was at it sounded like all the fan action was coming from the upper bowl because the suits in the lower bowl were too busy being suits.

When i went to see a leaf game at the bell centre i sat in the upper 100s. It was one of the best experiences of my life. Chirping was in good fun, it was loud, beers were plentiful. And i made some good frenemies wearing my blue and white lol.

  19. Creacherz

I was expecting « Connor » over and over again lol, that’s be a taunt

  20. EntertainerOk772

    Who actually won? thanks Frenchy’s

  21. FishmanOne

Montreal fans are assholes! They booed Bedard during his first game back in Canada as a professional.

  22. JamSauce42

No clue why people were upset by this it’s like they’ve never seen the bell centre when a star comes to town

  23. RadioDude1995

I’m not a Montreal fan, but I love Montreal fans. How can you not appreciate their enthusiasm and love for the game? If they’re booing you, you must be doing something right (if you’re on the opposing team).

  24. No-Web-1393

To be fair, Montreal booed, because they have nothing to cheer for.

  25. luxymitt3n

They are saying to pass it to Bouchard, « booooosh » bouch bomb. Not booing McDavid.

  26. MakeNazisDeadAgain--

Who? Sorry I don’t follow bad teams

  27. As an oilers fan, this kind of thing is great for the game, there’s nothing worse than quiet crowds and zero passion.

  28. Papa_Pasta15

As a leafs fan my friend will kill me for saying this but I love watching games in Montreal cause god their fans have so much fun wish it was us😭

  29. Apprehensive_Car_671

It’s Jake Allen in goal. Shoot from an impossible angle where the puck can’t possibly go in and reap the benefits.

  30. Vingt-Quatre

Has McDavid never been booed before?

  31. niishachar

This has a soccer game feel to it. As an oilers fan I didn’t mind it at all

  32. I loved seeing this. Engaged fans are great, especially compared to some of these dead quiet arenas.

  33. Joshp1471

    *laughs in English football fan*

    You call that a taunt?

  34. habulous74

It’s a sign of respect. We don’t boo just anybody.

  35. Mediocre_Cucumber199

Then they lost in OT…. Primary assist, Mc David.

  36. DrunkenLupus

I can’t believe this is noteworthy in the NHL, this is standard practice every game in Europe.

  37. samtayl0rr

This was the first time I’ve been to a game at the Bell Centre and it won’t be my last. What an atmosphere!
