Sorry bro you've got it wrong. You said it your self: the duck were shaken after the hit. Jump the guy, protect your teamate. Make sure the guy will think twice before delivering a punishing hit otherwise you let the other team get the advantage. I am not especially for fights but when a hit is predatory you need to answer back with same kind of hit or a punishing fight.
