This just isn't sustainable. And it's mostly been like this the 9 games since Lyon came back/Lalonde destroyed the top 6 combos. And he refuses to change the horrible top 6 combos that aren't working at all, bc Lyon and great luck keeps stealing them points. So he's basically coaching by superstition in defiance of reason. Not a great sign for a coach.
There is going to be a collapse coming off this that will look just like December, if the lines aren't corrected. They can't be fully corrected now w Kane out, but you can at least get DeBrincat onto the top line where he belongs.
My Mike says they all played a superior game then Florida accept when they are their own worst enemy. 3-2= win. The Panthers only capitalized on the Wings mistakes (Detroit turns the puck over or give a-ways that need to be cleaned up) and refs letting the Panthers pick, clutch and grab. Which the Panthers are superior at doing. The Wings don't capitalize on chances. Even Paul Maurice said before the game that Detroit was one of the highest scoring teams in the East, but miss allot of chances. Dave P tonight thro the crease, 2 posts in the 3rd. Larkin and Alex D should be on pace to score 50 goals! Chariot again in my mind played hard and tough, (tough opponents included) making plays in the corners when the flyers tried to establish the play down low or along the boards. Petry is stepping up, Shayne G played well and was more physical. The Detroit x-NHL announcers thought OM played well. Moe has elevated his game. So has the Michael R line.

If you watched hockey the last 30 years, you'd know players go through funks. They can be abysmal like with Copp. But I knew he'd start getting points again. Most players require more patience than the average fan has. But in reality, he's a 15 maybe 20 goal player at his ceiling & more here for shutdown purposes. He can still get 15 this year & better to get hotter in the last half of the season heading to the POST SEASON woo.

I remeber like a month or 2 ago everyone was wondering if it was goaltending that was lacking or was it the defense or both. It was clearly both. But the defense has stepped up and with good goaltending this team has found there groove. Still seeing some defensive breakdowns but there satisfactory. Alex lyon is a stud! Perron is gonna be haunted in his dreams by that missed open net in 1st. That pissed me off. But he made up for it by keeping that puck in the zone in ot and letting larks snipe one on bob
Rasmussen looked so good this game. Huge one for him, and that bottom 6 line with him, Copp and Fischer is so solid, great on forecheck, backcheck, seems to cause teams a lot of problems! Love to see it
