What a great thing to read. Glad he took the time off and I’m thrilled he’s so open about stuff like this.

Pretty lame that they put a big story about mental health behind a freaking pay wall

Sometimes we’re our own worst enemies and can really be hard on ourselves. To me, he passes the eye test. Are there times he should dink rather than flicka? Absolutely, but shouldn’t we all? We got you, Key.

« And when we’re good defensively, that usually leads to good offense. When we’re at our best, we’re playing hard defensively, shutting them down and eliminating their chances. »

It must be so mentally challenging to be a professional athlete. You are one of the few in the world who are getting paid to do what you do. Everyone expects you to perform at a high level at all times so the constant pressure and scrutiny eat at you. Hats off to Key and any athlete who is willing to discuss their challenges. I think it takes a lot of courage to admit that you have a problem as it will ultimately lead to you working hard to solve it.
Look at Zack Grienke, who stepped away for a long time during his peak. He came back stronger than ever as one of the top pitchers in MLB and winning the Cy Young.

Glad he is taking care of himself.
On the ice he has had some brutal games lately. -3 vs the Canucks-2 vs Washington. Get caught lot of break aways. Hoping the best fir him.

My understanding is that this is completely in line with the Rangers organization’s culture right now. Adam Graves recently did a talk at my work about the importance of mental health in hockey and beyond. Good on them and good on Key.
