"HUGE DAGGER FROM THE RED WINGS" – bro, relax with the drama…there are 40 games left, which is half a season. Do I think the Leafs are playing well? Do I think they're showing themselves to be worthy of a playoff spot right now? Of course not…but that can change just like it did for Edmonton, when they couldn't buy a win back in November, until they fired Woodcroft and turned things around dramatically. Toronto needs to fire Keefe now, and hire someone who gives them a defensive system to play under, and holds them accountable.

Oh the Red Wings… they have stretches of play that would make you believe that just maybe they can finally make the playoffs… then reality sets in and their true colors show. Red Wings are a textbook definition of MID. They will keep missing the playoffs and get MID round picks and stay in a stalemate. I feel bad for Yzerman and the Yzerplan, more like the Yzerscam.

As for the Leafs? It seems like our December has turned into their January. It's also important to note that when Marner says they "gotta ignore what everyone else says" doesn't just apply to the media. If folks don't realize that players can see what fans are saying on Twitter, Reddit, whatever… or even hear about what X media guy is saying from friends or family, then that's quite a wild take. They hear it, they hear about it, and they know… and he's right, they have to persevere and actually try.
What's also wild is they went out and fired the GM who constructed a team that, for the first time since 2004, managed to get them to the second round. In that way, changing GMs might've actually set the Leafs back.
the only way toronto makes a drastic move is if something horrible happens. being eliminated from the playoffs in the last game of the season by a weaker team and guaranteed next year the leafs will look different. otherwise why make a change when they are already selling out the building on an almost constant basis.
