I think the coach has to go along with marnier. Marnier is suck a suck. There is zero countability with him. He reminds me of someone who grew up NOT knowing the meaning of the word NO!! His whole life. And even with a new coach I can’t see that changing anytime soon. Good player? Yes sure. But you can not have the tail wagging the dog! That’s culture, and the culture of this team is horrible, it’s amazing how teams like Boston can loose all those guys, and good hall of fame guys and still be tops in the league. ,, culture, and the leafs do not have that that and it starts at the top.

Incentive, make a guy feel important…. ! These guys are playing the sport they love in the best league in the world. Getting paid more money than 90% of the world’s population can ever even imagine and they need to be made to feel important before they step up and give it all. Sack the damn lot of em if that’s really their attitude, because of the attitude! Private jets, fancy clothes, sometimes you gotta just go Rocky Balboa and get back to the grit. Some of these young stars look like they believe the hype, it must take ages to get ready every day. Unless you’re a bear and you don’t need clothes! Too many distractions maybe, is that it? ..after 7 years of losing..why the hell would you assume changing the coach..again or G.M. again could make a major difference…move Mitch..see what Mathews can do without paying 11 million to Mitch to pass to him..many of the "points" put up are on the same goal…move Mitch..
I wasn’t a big fan of Versteeg when he played but the guy is a real hockey player and he calls it like it is which is very refreshing when all we are subjected these days is all this WOKE bullshit!
Versteeg had such a great career. Always wanted him on the Oilers when he was at his peak. His analysis here is spot on. I've said it before and I will say it here again: I think the Leafs should consider giving Jay Woodcroft a shot if they move on from Keefe. He's a good coach. He made some mistakes early this season, but he's a smart guy and I suspect he's learned from it. He won't be without a coaching job for long and the team that scoops him up is going to get a great coach.
Toronto needs to hire STLOUIS old coach. He won them a cup, much better than keefe

i said last summer that Keefe would be gone either during the 2023/24 season or by the end, looks like i am not too far off, we all know where his next team is at, Pitt. The Leafs have had A no show playoffs / goalie / blueline problem for how long now? 7 years? that lies on President / GM , also you made your choice , you cant keep Mitch and Willy and Matthews, so i believe Marner is the piece that brings the Leafs the two defenseman you need. move forward with Woll, Jones , Murray if he's healthy , your paying him anyways. 100 percent Marner will be traded, i think deep down he knows that.

Listening to Kris, I think he says all that needs to be said.
I’m an Oilers fan but that reminds me of not our recent coaching change, but the change when we went from Tippett to Woodcroft in 2022. Every player interview in the following weeks were so enthusiastic regarding Woodcroft’s coaching, and how they finally knew exactly what they were expected to do, and how to play in their system.
It came out through the press that Tippet was very loose on direct instruction, and was more of a guy who expected players to know what to do. Woodcroft brought clear and direct individual instruction that everyone benefitted from. He was helped by being our AHL coach already so he’d worked with some of the guys already but it was like night and day.
Woodcrofts time ran out obviously but just the way Kris describes them looking lost, maybe they should just get Woodcroft on the phone. (Or maybe not, cause I’m an Oilers fan and have no real interest in the Leafs being good)
It was a mistake to make Tavares Captain all those years ago.

It's astounding that fans, talking heads and former pros can see the right moves to make for this organization and yet, the Leafs seldomly make that choice. The Maple Leafs aren't a hockey team anymore, they're a business and revenue generation is their only concern; everything else comes after. The pipedream will continue for many, many decades to come.

Speed and youth aren't necessary for the Leafs. Crosby is showing that talent and intelligence are more important. The Leafs have no chemistry, their talent is being unintelligent.
