    One of the things I wonder about this case is what happens if players aren’t convicted.

    These kinds of cases are far from a guarantee. All the players involved will likely say it was consensual. Most of their teammates will say they knew nothing about it, or that she didn’t seem in distress and they didn’t know what they were seeing. Its likely that there are no employees who witnessed anything, there is likely no incriminating pictures or videos. Most of the physical evidence will point to there being sex, but proving rape with physical evidence is often difficult. Beyond this, juries are weird and you never know how they’re going to interpret the evidence.

    I don’t know if the NHL could ban any of these players if they’re found not guilty. Would any team be willing to take the PR hit by signing them again?
