No doubt, he’s a unique player with loads of potential.

If the guy offered is newhook tier or above it shouldve been taken. More power to Kent if he thinks he can get more, but if that’s the likely return, with the logjam on D, Xhekaj has to be the one traded.
Funes08
If Romanov and a 4th round pick fetched the 13th overall pick, I would only accept an offer around that worth.
flepine44
Former first round pick young forward Michael McLeod /s

We are doomed. No offensive talent, a surplus of LD, and we keep a guy who we got on a PTO and hasn’t shown yet he can be more than a 3rd pairing guy.
xero1986
I dunno man. It’s hard to say if this guy turns into anything more than a 6/7 D. I probably would have taken it but I understand why they didn’t.
Electrical_Analyst65
Absolutely should have turned it down. Xhekaj has a tremendous upside and has played not even a full season yet. If you trade him combine him with other assets and get a first line scorer. The Habs have enough second line forwards. Don’t waste the assets on another one.

Names popping in my head with teams that could be looking for a tough D. Brisson in Vegas, Lucius in Winnipeg, Foerster with Philly and Othmann with the Rangers.
The only one I’d pass on is Lucius straight but the other three are looking to be excellent middle six guys (2nd line likely). If players of that caliber, which is hinted by the article, were offered for him it’s likely a split decision up in management and I don’t even know which side I’d take.

Stingray_17
We already have plenty of young forwards with second line potential. It would simply a trade of one area of abundance for another.
iconsandbygones
He’s got 70gp and he’s an undrafted sophomore playing at the highest level.
All you guys writing him off before he even peaks are out of your mind.
lucrativebiscuit
Bonehead move. His value won’t get any higher. We ain’t in the 80s anymore. What does Xhekaj do on the scoresheet? What’s he known for apart from fighting?
Hurin88
Was it KK? 🙂
WeathervaneJesus1
When was this first-round pick drafted? That’s really the key to this more than anything.
NectarOfTheBussy
the habs need the fucking lumber I hope his game improves, I have high hopes
Shifty_Pickle826
I heard it was Morgan Frost….idk man, I like Xhekaj but I would do that trade for sure
Night_Sky02
We can’t keep Strubble, Mailloux AND Xhekaj.
I feel like Xhekaj is not as well-regarded by the organization as the other two.
Sten12
Considering there was some buzz about the Flyers looking at him, I’m wondering if Morgan Frost could have been a player discussed
lyme6483
I’ll take Guhle, Struble, Hutson over him any day. This team needs scoring in the worst way. It’s comical people saying we have enough 2nd line players. This is the worst scoring forward group in the nhl. Help is 1000% needed
antrage
I mean trading X for someone with second line potential doesnt do much to support our need for high end talent. Im sure if KH considers trading X it would be part of a broader package to get someone truly unique for the deal. I think we probably have a good number of second line forward potential forwards.
Danny_Jack
I’d offer up Oskar Olausson for him for sure, 1st rounder in 2021
