He doesn’t work for fans or players. He makes owners money and his cold hearted approach works for billionaires who want to be even bigger billionaires.

I think they’ve done a pretty bad job selling the NHL game compared to other professional leagues.
Funny any arena he goes into he’s booed unless he’s in Tampa or Florida they look at him as a hero.
The owners wanted those stoppages and Bettman did exactly what they wanted. He’s a model employee in their mind and is doing exactly what he was hired to do.

And the league may never recover from the toll he’s taken. NHL should consider itself lucky to be the 4th most popular American sport, but it’s far far far down in 4th. This guys bold faced corruption and greed caused many decisions that hurt the game in the long run. Imagine not signing an espn TV deal because some obscure station offered slightly more… one of many incredibly stupid, short-sighted moves. This guy put himself in the HOF as a builder, yet the only ones who should like him the owners that are greedy.
Does this make Bettman the Bobby Kotick of sports?

Bettman has been awful for the business side of the NHL. when he took over the NHL the league was on the cusp of overtaking the NBA as the 3rd largest sport in N.A. Now you could argue MLS, Nascar, UFC, and PGA are bigger
